Andre Drummond - LeBron's Robin

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I like him, but if we can trade him for another quality player, the sooner the better.

Shit like this ain't cool...yeah its on Drummond to adapt but presumably he's a passionate guy about basketball and he's learning that the changing NBA is a threat to his passion. He put in work over the summer to adapt, unfortunately maybe it wasn't the right type of work.

Still not cool that he's sulking when the team is winning but still kinda feel for the guy.

Koby did the exact same thing to TT last year and destroyed any leverage the guy had with the team for a contract. Has to be demoralizing to have your best game of the year and then this as your next game.

I mean, he still started and was still subbed back into the game with 6 minute left in regulation. Was on pace to play more minutes than Allen if it hadn’t gone into overtime. So it’s not like he was banished or had his role entirely taken away after that monster game, which came after the trade was announced. Obviously though, he can see the writing on the wall and knows were the Cavs will be allocating their big money to at the center position beyond this year. But he has to manage that and be a professional or he will tank his own value, both on the trade market and/or on the FA market this summer

Last night the way the game flow JB decided that having Allen gives the Cavs the best chance to win, and imho he was correct with the decision... I don't think anyone from the coaches and management is trying to tank Drummond's value ir demoralize him.... They make calls on what they think is best, depending on who is playing well or the combination that works some players feelings might get hurt, but I don't think they are being deliberate...

I don't want to put words in his mouth or anything. I think he was having fun. He had a large role, he was leading the team in shot attempts and he did what JB asked him to. He really was playing as if he was a DPOY candidate. Seemed like he was enjoying the guys. I am not sure what he was looking for contract wise, I am sure more than he is really worth, but I think he thought the Cavs might actually be a long term home for him where he can be the Senior star after Love is gone etc.

He's somewhat delusional, but he also seems very emotional to me. Being wanted is important to him, and really that is true for most of us. The Cavs made a fantastic trade, but his future might be evaporating before his eyes. It just changes how the Organization values him and he is aware of that. Seeing his replacement come in and outplay him/play within the system would get to me I won't lie.

This is his opportunity to change his approach, and to be fair, he has changed his defensive mindset. But, he is really going to have to be honest with himself or he is looking at MLE money maybe.

I totally agree, and I think JB has balls to do that. Drummond was just cruisin and was psyched to be having success and being a part of team, and now it seems like he is just a mercenary passing through. It matter to guys. It has to.

Having that multi year extension helps with having the balls, lol....

Drummond just need the self awareness to lessen the trying to be ball handling wizard and scoop shots ala-Kyrie... If he focus on doing what he does best he could still get payed like Gobbert... But maybe that is what not makes it fun for him to play the game, he wants to be known as the skilled big man when in reality he should be a defense first/bruiser type....

Yeah totally agree. What is going to be his wake up call though? Could this be it? I really wanted to keep Tristan to specifically show him how he should play. This thing with Allen isn't going to go over as well I think because he is younger and has no ring. Pretty easy to tell Drummond, "well TT is a champion, no surprise he closes the game."

There was no way to avoid it - Drummond's touches and shots were going to go down when players got healthy even without the trade. Sure he probably enjoyed the freedom he had as "the man" when he was basically the only guy on the floor for us who could score, but he's delusional if he thought that was going to continue.

Given that he hasn't woken up at 7-8 years in the league, I don't think it will happen until he is on the decline already... Similar to what happened to Dwight Howard... Which is a shame because he has talent, he's durable, seems like he puts in the work and outside the court a decent guy... Just doesn't want to adjust his game....

Oh please. The NBA is a business. It’s not as if the Cavs have shown any shred of loyalty toward Drummond either.

They went out and got another center as soon as the opportunity arose, even though Drummond was playing his ass off and carrying the team through all those injuries.

Just trade the guy.

I don't understand how "the NBA is a business" and loyalty pertains to the point I was trying to make. Though @Cavatt explained my thoughts better than I did.

Again to be clear I don't condone his sulky attitude and it is unfortunate that he still hasn't figured out how to be effective in the league after 7-8 years even though it seems obvious to us (and we still don't know how much of this is actually a function of JB coaching strategy). He tried to work on some things to be more effective to adapt to the modern NBA, those things aren't working out so well.

He definitely appears to be an emotional guy.

I'm just saying I see a guy who is realizing that what he is very passionate about is slipping away from him, and even though he's made millions of dollars, I can still empathize with him, the same way I would empathize with a passionate carpenter who could no longer work wood because he cut his hand off on a table saw, or a guy who is forced to retire due to injuries. And the same way I would empathize with someone in a professional "business" setting undergoing the same realizations.

idk i'm an emotional lesbian myself so whatever, but basically my stance is that even though he's a multi-million dollar athlete, people shouldn't be shitting on him as much as they are.

"Just trade the guy" is a very easy thing to say but a much more complicated thing to actually do. That's like telling a homeless person to "just get a bunch of money".

I think the organization thought Drummond was a long term solution but when they saw him freestyling too much and don't set screen. I think that's when the organization decided they saw enough from him.

Drummond is a good player defensively but he's horrible offensively and acts like he's the best scoring option on the team.

When,Sexton missed his first two three-point shots against the Nets. Drummond gave him like, why you're shooting the ball..Collin is the team's best scorer and you're looking at him all fucked up. It makes no sense at all..

Well the thing is I’m sure he was happy having the most shots on the team, but he’s shooting 45% from the field only taking shots at the rim. Also with him taking the most shots we are the worst offensive team in the league. Part of being a pro is being self aware.

He has no business shooting that much, I’d rather see Sexton Garland or even Dotson chuck 100 3s per game then see another Drummond post up ever
