Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
They had significant offseason losses. They have talent, but I think their weaknesses overwhelm their strengths.

Stephon Gimore, Hason Reddick, Morgan Fox, DaQuan Jones all left.

I thought the absolute key to that defense's success early on in the year was the way they lined up the 4i, which was Morgan Fox on a lot of plays. That was instrumental to them shutting down opposing run games early in the year. I like Matt Ioannidis, but I don't think he can do the same thing.

Their secondary has two guys I love in Horn and Chinn, but you need a fleet of corners to compete in the NFL and I don't think CJ Henderson and Donte Jackson are good enough.

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe they thrive. Maybe Matt Rhule continually bringing in guys from his Baylor days, like Ioannidis, pans out. I'm just not a believer. I thought this team was competing for the #1 pick before they brought in Baker.

I expect Rhule and the GM to be gone after this season, and the young pass rush of Burns and Yetur, along with Chinn and Horn on the back end to be very appealing for whoever takes over the job next.

nice post....

Baker will beat the Browns in a two minute drill.

It’s too perfect not to happen.
And then whip a tiny towel from his back pocket and wave it around as he laps the field. The return of Wrestling Heel Baker from Oklahoma would be a breath of fresh air for the NFL.

He's gonna roll us and RCF will implode.

I'm rooting for him, as I think it was a mistake to move on from him. The potential to improve was immense after the coaching carousel and injuries, but if he in fact was a malcontent that divided the locker room, then no love lost. That can only be determined by being in there with the team, as I don't trust much of the media reports with agendas and talking pieces.
I'm rooting for him, but it was also time to move on (just not with Tiny Towel). It was obvious him and the staff weren't on the same page, in a number of ways, and Baker had the kind of ego that I think needed a wake up call. Hopefully this was it, bc guys who are too prideful to be a backup when needed or step back when sucking don't last long.

Baker looked good last night but I don't care how good he looks going forward there's no doubt in my mind he'll never be a qb that can win a super bowl and that's the goal

Pretty much this.

I have no doubt whatsoever that Baker will play much better than he did last year provided he doesn't get seriously injured again.

But even with that, he's just not the caliber of QB that you pretty much have to have in this era of passing domination to lead you to success at the highest levels.

You basically need a stud QB or a QB who catches fire and plays like a stud for a month like Flacco and Foles did.
