Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I would be more interested to see Baker on the 49ers than on the Ram. Rams have been pretty bad all season and they still have some good talent on their team. I'm not sure Mcvey would make the necessary adjustments to try to cover Baker's faults. I'm not sure they have the personnel for it.

The 49ers are built to be a running team and have WRs that can get yards after the catch. Also have a top tier TE in Kittle. I think Kyle Shanahan has all the tools to tweak their offense around Baker to keep winning. I also think Shanahan is more willing to adapt his offense.

Niners really like Brock Purdy, local coverage don't expect Baker to make it to them.

Im not sure this situation is just whoever wants him on waivers. I think there has to be mutual interest between Baker and the team taking him. It getting leaked that it was mutual decision to waive Baker makes me think he wants to go to a certain situation. I don't think we know what that situation is. It could be looking for a long term place or it could be looking to get to a team that can adapt to his faults to help showcase him. I think he should go to somewhere with a good team and a OC or offensive minded HC that can adapt to him even if it's just for the rest of the season.

It'll be interesting to see where Baker is both a scheme fit AND a culture that is willing to take him on.

If he isn't willing to be a backup, he might clear waivers.

I could see a lot of teams bringing him in as a backup, but to start? 49ers, Rams, Saints, Jets, Colts should be the entire list of teams who even have the slightest bit of interest.

I don't think the Rams are trying to win games, and don't think they view Baker as an option for next year, so they're out.

I don't think Dennis Allen or Robert Saleh would put up with his attitude.

So, we're looking at Jeff Saturday saying "Yeah, bring him in" or him making it to San Francisco.

Sounds like the perfect place for Baker Mayfield.

The Rams do not have their 1st round pick, so I'm not sure they're all that incentivized to lose the rest of the way.

Of course there's only 5 games left and you gotta get the guy up to speed too.

Picks exist in other rounds besides the first :)

I could see a team gambling if they thought there was a chance to resurrect Baker for next year, a la Geno Smith.

But with Stafford likely poised to return next year, I don't see why McVay would do it.

Then, let's add this--what is the single most important thing to have on a team with Baker at QB? Isn't it a strong interior offensive line? Well, that ain't the Rams.

You overestimate Bakers position. Greatly.

He'll be lucky to get an offer to be a bad teams starter the rest of the year. Let alone a good team like the 9ers.
