Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Isn’t this the Baker Mayfield thread?

Anyway Baker called out the fans AGAIN yesterday, adding on to his crowd noise comment postgame Sunday. I usually defend Mayfield for his outspokenness, but there’s no denying he comes off like a tool lecturing the fanbase about when to cheer and when to be quiet, like they don’t already fucking know that.

Eh, I was at the game & it got noticeably loud when he was trying to quiet the crowd in the red-zone towards the last TD. Is it smart to pick a fight with the fanbase? No, but it was pretty rough Sunday on a perfect day for football. I can't blaming him for doubting whether or not the fans know to be quiet when the offense is on the field/in the red-zone.

The issue is two-pronged: 1) We are largely fair-weather fans/season ticket holders & the Bills contingent was embarrassingly large, and; 2) Some fans are just too drunk/dumb to know/remember when to be loud/quiet.

I don't think this is true at all. Lower bowl season tickets have been mostly sold out for 20 years straight despite terrible team after terrible team

You think those people are actually going to all of those games? I'm not as optimistic about that one.

If they're anything like the lower-bowl Cavs people, they are all about recouping money.

I don't think the people that go to Browns games know that the Cavs or Indians exist.

No idea what Baker said, but I was at the game as well and it was a weird atmosphere. Crowd was crazy for the first and last touchdown, but everything in between it was pretty dead in there. You could tell the fans were pissed off/deflated. Hell, I was too.

All he said was that we need the crowd to be super loud when they have the ball, and for them to be quiet when we have the ball to create a home field advantage.

Seemed they were pretty loud on the last drive a couple times where he was trying to quiet them down.

Oh, yeah. Especially after the Landry catch people were going crazy.

Seems like MKC stirring up fake drama again.

He only broached the subject because Mary Kay brought it up to stir more drama and controversy.

Not only that, she framed the question to try and bait him into something even worse. “Or were you referencing the large number of Bills fans in the stadium?”

Mary Kay is pure trash. Offers no insight, no news, and drives for drama.
Her dream job is probably working for tmz following around celebrities all day . . .

His request to quiet down inflamed the Bills contingent. That is what happened. Many Browns fans in attendance obliged, but there were just too many Bills fans. It was kinda embarrassing.

Yeah, this isn't gonna end well for the Browns and Baker, I feel like.
The snowball is starting. His receivers yelling at him on the sideline, complaining about the fans on Sunday, his wife calling out the fans and now doubling down.
