Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Question is this... was it a cheertatorship, or a cheerocracy?
Not sure but it looks like Baker is having trouble dealing with the cheeronsequences of his cheercision to play injured.

Hopefully this season he wakes up feeling pretty cheergerous

Definitely good to see Baker get off of social media for a bit. I like that he (or someone close to him) realized it was doing more harm than good and that he'll be criticized no matter what he does by a portion of the fan base (as we've seen in this thread).

Shut it down, focus on surgery rehab and mental heath wellness, and do your talking on the field in 2022 instead of on IG/Twitter.

Can we just get an elite fucking WR please?

Notice how every playoff team has one? Our best one is Jarvis fucking Landry.

Mayfield with Chase, Hill, Adams, Kupp, Deebo we would be having such a different conversation.

Having stud WR have become increasingly important in the NFL of late.
I don't know if that's true for us. Two good wide receivers have now asked out of Stefanski's offense. Couple that with Baker's perceived limitations and that's probably a nope for me if I were an elite WR.

Stefon Diggs was traded in 2020, when Stefanski was Browns head coach.

Why are you gonna let facts get in the way of some good slandering…

Really liked where Jscc for steering this ship…

Stefanski was the OC in 2019, do people not know this? He wasn’t happy with the offense from the previous season and wanted out as a result of that.

I mean, Diggs was unhappy way, way back before Stefanski was even OC. Even Thielen was pissed at points before Stefanski.

It wasn't strictly because of the Stefanski offense.

I think it had more to do with Zimmers philosophy than anything

Looking at the personnel packages and play calling from the 2018 and 2019 Vikings to the 2020 and 2021 Browns, it's pretty clear that Stefanski was being a good soldier and running what Zimmer wanted to run more than what he wanted to run.

The 2019 Vikings were dead last by a mile in 11 personnel. They used 11 personnel (3 WR, 1 TE, 1 RB) just 25% of the time and the league average was 60%.

Once Stefanski came to Cleveland, he used fullbacks a lot less and wide receivers and especially tight ends a lot more.

The 2018 Vikings under our old buddy John DeFilippo threw the ball 38 times a game and ran it 22 times. They went 8-7-1 and Zimmer fired Flip before the season ended because he was throwing too much (among other things).

The 2019 Vikings under Stefanski threw the ball 29 times a game and ran it 30 times a game. They went 10-6.

Zimmer wanted to run way more than DeFilippo was willing to run. Stefanski obliged him and in the process the collateral damage was that they alienated Diggs even though they made the playoffs and won a playoff game.

:chuckle: Big name QBs such as Derek Carr, Jimmy G, Kirk Cousins.

Any chance Cleveland media outlets can explore better work at their position too?
Come on, bro. Yes, none of those three guys are absolutely elite like Rodgers, Mahomes, Allen, Herbert, etc. However, Carr and Cousins have statistically been top 10 QBs in recent seasons and Jimmy G isn't exactly a slouch. The bottom line is that all three would be an upgrade over Baker, especially Carr and Cousins.
