Would you mortgage your future for Simmons?

We are very much on the map. And it’s all positive. Look on Reddit or any other social media. We’re this season’s darlings in many respects.

Simmons brings a circus. He’s mentally weak and a liability on offense too.
Exactly. Saying that this team has no recognizable names is laughable at best. Garland, Mobley & Allen have been playing like all-stars. Rubio is having the best season of his career.

Honestly, watching the pre-game yesterday, it felt like the commentators wanted us to trade for Simmons, knowing it would screw us over. They want to see us fail.

If we trade for Ben we would fuck ourselves big time
They have to look at how this would effect them financially. Love would obviously be going for money. Perhaps Sexton (15-20M a year extension?), who’s possible extension would make Simmons about 10M more a year if you start offsetting.
They’d be losing scoring, but the 7 ft lineups they’d march out would be ridiculous, and the ability to switch. Good luck getting 3s off, and good luck at the basket.
Perhaps a protected 1st, nothing more.
We have to start looking at how they constructed this roster, and you’re adding another 6’10 switchable defender and ball handler. Yea he doesn’t have a shot- that’s the biggest downfall (assuming he’s not a lockroom cancer- but the CLE market is friendlier).
He’s 25 years old. It’s an opportunity to add a top end young talent that fits the timeline.
Sexton is just expendable. And Love, although playing great, likely isn’t getting extended.

Philly wanted to play Simmons in the frontcourt, and he resisted. He wants to be the PG and bring the ball up the floor. So who are you benching out of our starting lineup to play Simmons?

Also, while Simmons is a very good defender against 3 through 5, he is not a good defender against quicker guards. So if you're going to go with a Simmons Garland backcourt, our perimeter defense would be worse than it is right now.

So the other day Amin ElAsshat was on Sirius Radio and they were trying to figure out who were the 30 names that Morey targeted for trading Simmons. He and his radio partner decided there were NO CAVALIERS on that list.

What a dumbass.

what's the purpose of such posts? Love + Sexton ? Did you pay attention what Morey has been doing ? You're either serious about gutting your team or you don't talk Simmons with him.

I’ve got mixed feelings as well about him. He’s a top 25 player who can guard anyone in the league. I’m just not sure where he fits. Our shooting is already questionable at best. Where does he play? PG? Just have him and Garland in the backcourt with Lauri Mobley and Allen up front? I guess that could work. He’s never ever going to be a good or even willing shooter so you just have to accept that. I’m afraid of what the cost would be. I’m ok with giving up okoro and I guess you have to give up love which would hurt our shooting even more when we need it the most but there’s no other option. So it would have to be love okoro and sextons RFA rights. And probably a first. I think there would have to be another move made for a real shooter off the bench if we got him.

Sexton's extension wouldn't kick in until next season so there'd need to be a lot more $ going out to make the numbers work this season FYI.

I think the purpose is that many people lower their demands when everyone says "no" and the assumption is that the more time that passes the more likely he will do that.

Half the league is floating around .500 or worse and looking to kick start their season ( Cavs ain't one of them). Morey is waiting out for the best offer and not rushing. Some one will give him something. Sixers need players that will help them push for playoffs. Love, injured Sexton and Okoro are not those players. Zero reasons to trade with Cavs.
