Brandon Too GoodWIN Two Be True

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I came away more certain than ever that he's more undersized shooting guard than backup point guard. Nice guy for the end of the bench, but he had one assist tonight, fellas. He has some strengths, but he isn't going to do what Rondo can do.

With your logic jbb should’ve kept rondo instead the dude couldn’t even create a shot in 5 seconds and was getting his shit swatted. The ball wasn’t even moving and I’m a rondo guy but Goodwin deserves more minutes plain and simple he earned it

I think him and Cedi as the 1/2 works as long as Cedi isn't driving to the rim... If Osman didn't take so many terrible shots, we'd have said he had a great game.

Not really. The coaches ran the offense through Cedi and Love. They didn't run it through Goodwin because they likely see what I'm seeing.

I disagree. Creation is more important from your backup PG than pure assists are. Rondo doesn’t really create much at all because he never gets into the paint and defenders are happy to let him shoot open threes. All Rondo does is stand in place passing around the perimeter or feed Love for post ups. Because of his style of play where he dominates the ball and usually makes the last pass on a possession for a shot, he’ll always get assists just from the sheer volume of opportunities, but the offense looks terrible as a result.

The offense generated far easier looks with Goodwin out there, whether it was through his own scoring or through simply collapsing the defense with penetration resulting in good looks, even if it didn’t directly lead to assists. This is something I’ve been saying even before tonight’s game. Because he gets defended like he can actually put the ball in the hoop and he’s quick enough to routinely get by his man.

I care about how the offense runs and looks on the whole. Not how many assists a guy is getting. That doesn’t necessarily correlate with good team offense.

Also before tonight’s game Goodwin has averaged 7.6 assists to 1.6 turnovers per 36 minutes for this team. Rondo is at 7.9 assists to 3.8 turnovers per 36...

So even that argument kinda goes out the window.

There's no question that Rondo doesn't have the burst Goodwin and his younger legs has. Goodwin is also the better defender at this point in their careers.

I'm not saying Goodwin is useless at all.

I'm definitely sure he isn't a primary play initiator at the NBA level. Not any more than Eddie House, who also carved out a role as more shooting guard than combo guard at about six foot even.

I'm definitely not playing the small sample size game with Rondo this season. His ability to pass has a track record. That's trash discussion, not interested.

The answer to Garland's backup here lies in the trade deadline... not Rondo who was gifted to the Cavs, nor Goodwin who was out of an NBA job because of very real limitations.

Rondo has been awful for a while now outside of a few weeks in the bubble. He hasn’t had a positive on-off in a season since 2012. 10 straight years in the negatives. He’s close to 36 years old now. What he did in Boston a decade ago doesn’t really matter to me. When your PG can’t get into the paint, refuses to shoot, gets defended like he can’t shoot, and provides no off ball value, your offense is a disaster.

Came to say this. Might need to start Cedi and Goodwin together

Ed Cota, Adema Okolaja, Vince Carter and Antawn Jamison... one of the best college starting 5's ever. Cant believe they didnt get Dean his last championship

Until Okoro stops giving up wide open 3s, he should be relegated to the bench IMO. Every time he does that, I feel like he passes to a horrible option. Which is funny considering he hit a few shots today.

That being said, when Garland and Lauri are back, I do like the dynamic of a Goodwin/Cedi/Stevens/Love/Wade bench unit.

They didn’t get it cause Jeff McInnis got some bad advice heading into that ‘96 draft….

Otherwise, Simon-Says wouldn’t have ever had a chance to say Championship !

Miles Simon, Jason Terry and Mike Bibby broke my heart that year. Mike Dickerson pissed his leg in that final four. Still cant believe they beat Kansas, Kentucky AND my tar heels to win that

McInnis was in that same class with Stackhouse and Rasheed Wallace and he watched both of his classmates get drafted after their sophomore years. He knew Cota was about to eat into his mins if he came back for his senior year. Still should have brought his ass back to Chapel Hill

And didn’t the Nuggets get Mark Jackson that year for Jalen Rose ? Kid was behind the 8 ball from the jump
