Brandon Too GoodWIN Two Be True

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The only way to heal a back is to get off it.. speeds up recovery to see a good chiropractor..

Goodwin is a guy that caught a few bad breaks, and is still paying for a questionable decision in college. He has always been talented..

I think he can play backup point. He is in fact very much like Sexton, though not as developed offensively, and more humble.. I would slot him as a good find right there with Stevens..

I think he also reveals our weakness when Garland is out.. If we make a trade , it needs to include a guy that can handle the Point.. Cedi made the effort last night, bravely.. got the assists, but was just clanking the threes and nearly everything else.. Goodwin buried his threes.. So yeah if Garland is out, I would roll with Goody, and bring Osman and Rondo in when I could catch a breather..

I just read up a little on this guy. Damn, talk about coming up the hard way through road block after road block. Lots of health problems, covid and vax related side effects, blood clots. Koby did a great job pulling him off the reclamation pile. Great to see him apparently healthy and performing up to his ability. I'm starting to be a fan.

Another player in the same mold is Dennis Schroder, who league execs believe the Cavs may try to acquire. I wonder if a couple more performances like last night from Goodwin will convince the Cavs they don't need Schroder.
I hope it doesn’t convince them of that. Goodwin is good enough to every once in a while be as good as Schroder. I think we need the guy who who has shown the ability to get 20 more than 3 times in his career.

I'm not totally sure but after seeing the setbacks Goodwin has gone through he might just be a guy who is just getting started after getting his career interrupted from the start. The only way to know is to see him over a longer sample size and these games with Garland being down are a start. I hope JBB replaces Rondo with Goodwin as the first guy off the bench if he can keep up this level for more than a game or two. Rondo can still sub in, because we really need to take some of the strain off of DG and give him some time to heal up rather than running him into the ground game, after game, after game.

I came away more certain than ever that he's more undersized shooting guard than backup point guard. Nice guy for the end of the bench, but he had one assist tonight, fellas. He has some strengths, but he isn't going to do what Rondo can do.

So he's more of a Collin Sexton replacement than a Rondo replacement?

Oof! There was another page of reponses. Looks like this was well covered.

Anyway, not to take any of the thunder for Goodwin's good win, but it does show that it is easier to replace a scoring small guard than it is to replace a floor general.

I think the Cavs plan on posting a covid/vax-disclaimer whenever Brandon checks in, just in case Neil Young wants to book a show at the Rocket Mortgage Field House down the road.

maybe, if goodwin does it for a couple years and not one game.
I like goodwin, could be a good pick up for koby. Would have loved him behind Garland and Rubio, just to help keep their minutes down when opportunity arises

Hilarious, just compared Sexton to Goodwin in another thread. If we sign Sexton in the offseason, and i hope we do, not sure where Goodwin fits, if he can get off that 50/50 contract with us. Sexton is a much better version of Goodwin, and more of a PG than Sexton although Sexton isnt much of a PG either, just a pure scorer at all 3 levels.

Cavs had three practice days in between games over the weekend, Goodwin volunteered to play with the Cleveland Charge, a possibility because of his two-way contract. So he suited up with Pangos on assignment for the Charge on Friday before the Cavs traveled to play the Pistons on Sunday. Goodwin made his Charge debut, scored 15 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished seven assists in 35 minutes.
Goodwin said his time with the Charge was a chance for him to work on his game, stay in shape and build a rhythm. He saw it as another opportunity to play basketball and to keep himself ready.
“It’s huge for him because a lot of times people want to fight that,” Bickerstaff said at practice Saturday. “But for him to get the opportunity as well as Kevin Pangos, they both wanted to play, they both wanted to get the reps, they like the competition. They’re professional in their approach, and they know those reps will be good for them. I think it’s a great thing; it says a lot about them.”
“He’s just a ballplayer,” Love said. “You see it every day after shootaround, every day after practice. He’s getting the work in with (Rajon Rondo) and loves the game, chases it, and good things happen to people who do that. Goody, he likes to roll the ball out and just play.”
When Goodwin first came to Cleveland, Love said everyone made an effort to bring him up to speed. Goodwin knew what his role would be with the Cavs as a two-way guy, that sometimes he’d be called upon, as he was against the Pelicans. He has stepped up, Love said.
“It was funny, he asked me, ‘Can I change my number to double zero?’ I said, ‘Listen, let’s do it. Let’s have zero and double zero,'” Love said. “I’m happy for him. Bench was great tonight. He was the person in the whole lineup that stepped up and was big for us. Gotta give credit to him. Was awesome tonight.”

Goodwin has been solid and is a valuable option as a third PG. He is a great combo with Rondo in that respect as they do different things and both have a great impact on the team and game. Glad we have both of them on the team, with Goodwin's ability to put down offensive pressure and the great leadership and passing skill we get from Rondo.

Our new 2nd string PG! Happy for the guy.

I guess it's useful to have Rondo on the roster as well, as a "break glass in case of emergency" option...

...who am I kidding, he's not useful at all.
