With money to spend and holes to fill, the Cleveland Browns struck quickly in free agency Saturday, reaching agreements with a pair of high-profile unrestricted free agents who will dramatically alter the landscape of the team's offensive line unit.

The Browns have signed center LeCharles Bentley of New Orleans, the top-ranked player overall in ESPN.com's ratings of unrestricted free agents. The team also reached an agreement in principle with Atlanta Falcons left offensive tackle Kevin Shaffer, ESPN.com's 26th-rated free agent.

Looks like the offensive line won't be a weakness for a long long time, now all the nfl analysts can stfu about it.

CDT, why are you editing threads, merging threads, renaming thread, and now reposting an ENTIRE article which is against RCF rules, and lets not forget that I already have this article quoted and linked?

Because your titles are horrible. This is a professional looking website make them short and concise. If it were up to you you'd post the entire story in the title and let it drag to the bottom of the screen.

We didn't need 2 Bentley signed threads so the obvious answer was to merge them and let Shaffer get his own.

OMG, look at post #1, and look at post #2! Thats all I have to say!

Calm down dude obviously the excitement has us all in a frenzy, common mistake, I forgot you were superhuman.

Pretty funny you are giving me advice on how to maintain a thread.

Shaffer is a pretty solid LT who is still young. He's only 26. Nice signing after Shelton decided to test the market.
Good recovery by Savage to go out quickly and get this guy along with Bentley.

Shelton can go back to Arizona!

We still need to find a franchise LT, this guy is only a stop gap I hope.

A 7 year stop gap Mac?

shaffer said that he wants to make the browns o-line mean and scary people... right not with the tucker, bentley and shaffer are all big scary dudes... hope it works out...

Everyone needs a franchise LT.

He will be fine. I don't think they would give $35 million if they thought he was a stopgap.

Where do you get $35 million from?

cleveland.com -

Shaffer, a four-year pro with the Falcons who originally was a seventh-round pick out of Tulsa, signed a seven-year contract worth about $5 million per year, including $12 million guaranteed.
