Wayyyyyyyyyy too much for this guy. I am dissapointed about this signing now actually.
 
It's the going rate for tackles mac, if you want a decent tackle this is what it would cost you. LJ wanted a little more then this with a larger signing bonus.
 
That's an awful lot for a guy that was not even a blind side tackle. I'd be really leary unless the Browns are bringing in a left handed QB.
 
You have to be a damn good guard to play in front of Mike Vick. He said several times that he never knew where Vick was and how glad he was to block for a pocket passer in Frye.

The going rate for LT's is what we paid. We got the best tackle in Free Agency, he was cheaper then Shelton and younger too. It was a glaring hole, he filled it the best way he saw how.
 
What kind of contract did you expect??? Goodness gracious, left tackles dont come cheap.

I never even heard of this guy before we signed him and he gets that kind of deal?

Thats a lot of cash...I hope it is backloaded atleast so he doesnt see most of it. That or this guy was just severely under everybody's and their mothers radar.
 
Every time I saw the Falcons line it seemed like they were getting blown up. Granted that was only 2-3 games last year. Playing LT with a Lefty QB is totally different than playing it with a Righty QB. And not to mention the Falcons have a very different style of run blocking. I'm not saying he sucks, it just seems like he's getting paid an awful lot when he's got some questions.

Exactly at their press conference he made that VERY clear saying you never knew where he was and you couldn't look back and check for obvious reasons.

And yes I heard it was backloaded so he will probably get cut the year that it really kicks up or be told to restructure if we are a top tier team :D

Top rated tackle in this years class per espn.com ranked #26 of the top 50 best UFA's in this years class..
 
I would imagine having Vick in there would do a lot for your total rushing numbers. They also threw for 5th from the bottom in yards, and got sacked 39 times compared to 45 for the Browns. That would be with having the most Mobile QB in NFL history and also playing a west coast type offense, which is supposed to rely on quick throws and cut down on the opponents opportunity to get to the QB. Obviously there are other factors in place.

You don't become a top team by overpaying system players, I'm not convinced this guy is much above a system player. We'll see if he can keep Porter or Haggans in check, or either of the emerging Cincy linebackers. If your primary weakness is that you struggle vs the speed rush, your hands will be full in the AFC north.
 
Yeah, he signed a one year deal.
