Browns hire Andrew Berry

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah, just because we had a horrible year last year doesn't mean it neuters our expectations. It's still playoffs or bust. Expectations are built off the talent level of the roster and we aren't any less talented now than we were last year. I know it's blasphemy to praise ownership but I give them credit for quickly pulling the trigger on Freddie and by extension Dorsey (who was still supporting Freddie and wouldn't take a lesser role). Now we just have to hope the Stefstanski + Berry combo is legit (which I think it will be).

The quick trigger is the problem, unfortunately. In this case it was necessary but I refuse to get excited until this team actually wins some damn games.

That's fine.

It's the mindset I've told myself I'm gonna have, but I won't lie to myself... I'm gonna get excited. The talent is just too rich on this team and the biggest thing holding us back (coaching) was the first thing we addressed. If we dedicate this offseason to improving the O-line and solidifying depth, then I'll be caught in the optimism trap all over again.

More ignorant, ill-informed tweets.

Berry started as a scouting assistant and worked his way up to pro scout and eventually pro scouting coordinator as part of his 7 seasons with the Colts.

Stating Berry isn't a "traditional scout" is either ignorance or purposely trying to push a false narrative.

Anyone think we should have kept either?

I honestly don't know. It's really hard to tell from the outside exactly which decisions had their fingerprints on them. We also don't know if either of them was willing to work for Berry.

At this point we just need to shoot for .500 before we talk about playoffs. If people are ready to give themselves playoff expectations then I question what they've been watching. Not to mention, next years schedule is tough:

Ravens x2
Steelers x2 (should be much improved)
Colts
Texans
Eagles
Raiders
@Cowboys
@Titans
@Jets

The division is going to be brutal. The Bengals should be better. We also play the Redskins and @Giants who should both be improved.

It's possible I guess, but it's going to likely take at least 10 wins to get in as a wild-card.

I don't see the schedule being any tougher this year than it was last year. But who knows? Nobody last year thought the Ravens and Titans would be any good. And everyone last year thought the Cowboys would be a super bowl contender and they didn't even make the playoffs. I think the Steelers are still an unknown. We don't know if Big Ben will be 100% healthy and even if he is, he is getting up there in age. The Bengals should be improved based on having a QB, but they have holes everywhere else, so who knows if Burrow can even stay upright.

We just need to get our shit together and strength of schedule won't matter much.

was stefanski not there?

I'm not sure if the coach was there or not, but it's a problem that your top player personnel who were there are now gone. If you don't think they were holding their work close to their vests with their jobs in the balance, I've got news.
