Geek of the Week: Data whiz Nate Sterken of Placed is a football fanatic who caught the NFL’s attention

Nate Sterken loves football and he loves data. He’s developed such a deep understanding of the routes that wide receivers run he might as well be a defensive back in the NFL.

But he's from Michigan, don't we have to hate him? Hope I'm not offending by using the M word.

We are 8th youngest - not snap-weighted, the more valuable FootballOutsiders metric, which had us at 4th before cuts and draft picks; #2 in available cap; #14 in wasted dead cap - mostly from a few million here and there each for Kirksey, Duke, Chris Smith, etc.

Ratbirds #9 in dead cap; not top 5 per the tweet, but not-great-season confirmed....?

NFL Network reports the league's salary cap could decline for 2021.
The cap been soaring skyward in recent years, reaching $198.2 million for the upcoming season, but with fan-less games all but a certainty for the fall, the league is facing revenue shortfalls. The league's media apparatus claims the goal is "to make sure the salary cap goes up or at worst stays flat," but professional sports leagues never operate out of the goodness of their hearts. The NFLPA could have a real fight on its hands this summer. The sides would like to have an agreement hammered out before training camp. Similar talks have been going extremely poorly between the MLBPA and Major League Baseball.
