This is the kind of move that will play well with future FA's
Not being 1-31 would play much better.
Better than getting nothing, move up what? 4 spots.
This is the football equivalent of a cash considerations trade in baseball- it takes a player exposed to waivers and gets them to the team they want to go to instead of getting snagged on waivers by, say, the Marlins or Rays or a team owned by Jimmy Haslam. That's all it is. Moving up from to the 6th is a negligible move.

Only players with less than 4 years of service are subject to the waiver wire.

I think it would actually.

"If it doesnt work out we'll trade you to the Patriots."

(McCourty, Shelton - I know he was drafted.)

Also strengthens the Patriots which, as the main thing keeping the Stoolers from being relevant, is something I’m always in favor of

Finally, the Patriots fans know what it's like to catch a break. Joking, but there's nothing wrong with a good will move for one of the veterans. Let the McCourty boys finally play together.

Saves them a million or so on the dead cap, I believe.

He had a bad last quarter of the season but honestly it was garbage time anyway.

No way I’m risking injury for this franchise.

Otherwise he was a decent DB and probably the best performing.

He’s a nice edition and he’s cheap.

Wait, why did the Browns get rid of him again?

we are like the Pats AAA team. These guys cant fit or play here but can play for the best team in the country.

They’ve now acquired a grand total of two home grown Browns in Sheard and Shelton.
