Caris LeVert: Two More Years!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Is LeVert back in 2023-24?

  • Cavs can't afford the $$$ to keep him and nothing is going to change that

  • After bricking shot after shot in the playoffs, Koby washes his hand and lets LeVert walk

  • Only if he signs for something close to the MLE

  • If Caris plays well in the playoffs, the Cavs will offer big $$$ to keep him

  • KobyAltman! No one else on the team fills his role, so stop sitting on your hands!

I wouldn’t Mind if he started, but either way his minutes need to be increased playing with our starters in Okoro place.

I don't want to see him start because I think it's pretty clear that his game depends on him getting touches early to find a rhythm.

I am impressed that everything he's doing as the season goes on is more decisive. Less dribbling and thinking and more attacking. It's giving him easier lanes to the rim and better passing opportunities. Sure, he's popping a few step back 3s that I don't *love*, but I do love how quickly he's catching and moving into an attack.

I think as time goes on, if he's willing to, Caris could be the Cavs' glue guy a la Andre Iguodala.

There are alot of similarities with Iguodala. Both can take the best perimeter player assignment, can plug and play at SF or SG, spot-up, make plays, finish, isolate, bring the athleticism, been the guys (or close to being) on teams that went to the playoffs. They were about the same age when they found their respective supporting roles too.

LeVert's longevity is the issue though. Iguodala averaged about 68 games per season during their splash brothers and KD eras. LeVert playing in 68 games this season is the second highest in his career since his second season in the NBA when he played 71 games.

I don't suppose this guy will give us a hometown discount...?

He said he is ramping up for the playoffs and he is. Great to have him. He's just playing the right way and has been crucial at the end of games

Interesting that Allen did not think Caris is playing his best currently.. while watching some of the Houston highlights, caris was clearly out of position defensively a few times ( which leaf to highlight Houston plays)

But if Allen is right and Caris continues to improve, he could impact the game even more..

I honestly was not a fan of his acquisition. He seemed a player that just did not fit our needs. And then when we picked up Donovan, I felt he was just not needed at all. But he has flexed and fit, and I think there are some wins we have when the main guys were injured, that we would not have without him.. I also think he is the kind of player that is better in a playoff game than regular season.

In any case, I am optimistic.

Keep thinking keeping his min low has been good for him.

He's ballin. Think he is playing much more under control lately which I like.

Those 2 travels were weird, I couldn't tell live. Not calls he gets against him much.

It's funny, I wasn't crazy at all about LeVert, but I'm happy to eat crow on this one, he's a luxury to have at this point. He's easily our 5th best player and I suspect at least one game in the playoffs be will be our best offensive player.

question is how much would it cost to resign him. He would not be easy to replace at less $$

Yep you'd need more than the MLE. Not 20M. Similar to his current number I could stomach and is probably trade able

I put a new poll on the thread....

I don’t see him as anything like iguodala as a player in terms of their style or skills, unless you just have a category in your mind of “super sub”. Iguodala was better - does anyone think Caris has the capacity to be an NBA Finals MVP?

With that said I’ve gained a lot of faith in him as a contributor. I still do worry about him being injury prone in the long run though. This is the healthiest season of his NBA career
