Cavaliers Trade Ideas: 2022-23 regular season edition

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
My dream trade for this team is Hield from Sac, Giving Them Rubio , Windler and Pangos and 2 Second round picks one this year and next, if that trade was to happen it will come down to last 5 min of the trading deadline, because Sac would look to do better up to the deadline, keep in mind he has 2 more years left on his contract after this one for a team that is stuck in going nowhere…….

If that trade fall through I have the Rockets on hold and doing Rubio and Windler, and Pangos and a future ugly second for Gordon, I feel we’re doing them just as much a favor taking a 33 year old guy with another year on his contract for a team not going nowhere……

If I can make one of those trades then I would try to trade the DPE of Rubio, for a backup veteran Pg , looking at Corey Joseph or DJ Augustine….I’m asking them to play the ED Davis role and be ready to play on back to backs so I won’t have to play Rondo on any back to backs….Hopefully either one of them is cool with that role…..Once again I’m only offering cap relief and some ugly 2nd round future pick……

I’m only trading to stay out of the play in game, trying to stay 5/6 spot in the standings, not catching top 4 teams . And then most likely getting bounce in the first round which would still be a very successful seasons, I would still have first round pick and hopefully 1 of my second to play
with this off-season along with the return of Sexton and maybe Rubio in the second halve of the season on a MLE contract …….

If all trade fails I just play the buyout market and pickup a player like Gary Harris who I see as a early buyout candidate and do the same for a veteran PG ……

It's hilarious that people are all worked up about missing out on Cam Reddish.
Reddish would've been a great fit here, but, hey, if Stevens continues to develop, he may be able to give us what we need at the SF spot.

Crazy isn't it? The inconsistent Cedi Osman who many fans have been frustrated with numerous times is better than Reddish.

What makes him a good fit? He plays no defense and is shooting 35% from the field and 33% from 3 in his career.

If Cam Reddish still had years left on his rookie deal, I'd be disappointed in missing out on getting him. That he's due a contract extension as soon as this summer makes me comfortable with it.

I still think we can get a better fit in the 2022 Draft, as well.

Reddish at this point is playing like a second round pick. I Have always liked him but as Fedor said yesterday in his podcast , Reddish wants an expanded role in whatever team takes him. Cavaliers want players that are willing to accept a role on the team.

I don’t see it brought up yet, but what if we could make a trade happen for Beal! Tell me a better fit than him for the Cavs right now? I think he a restricted free agent as well and Cavs would be able to afford him for the long run.

B Forbes got a DNP tonight not sure if it’s because of D White came back or Forbes got nix up last night…..But if he could be had on the cheap, future 2 or so , could be a cheap alternate to Gordon……

Not saying I would not love to have Beal on the Cavs but he is only 28 and making 33 million so unless they would take Love (doubt it) we would have to give up lots of depth to make the trade work. Rubio's expiring contrast is only 17 million so that would likely also mean a combination of Lauri, Cedi, and Sexton plus first round picks.

Thats too much for Beal in my mind. We cannot move anyone who is apart of our top 8 at the current moment in a sense... We can essentially take up until the 24 mil range in a deal if we add in Sexton plus Rubio... So what scoring 2/3 with okay defense on a bad team is available in that price range?

So if we go Gordon... would he be a good fit next to Garland as a starter?

I actually have a strange idea... Rubio plus Sexton, plus a future pick of some type for Josh Hart and Devonte Graham of the Pelicans?

Edit: we also can go get Brandon Ingram on paper... would he be a good fit beside Garland?

I dont love Beal. He is a good schematic fit in theory, but he needs the ball a lot. He has become really overrated in the last few years. You want to target someone like Buddy or EG to fill the same sort of role with lower cost and hurting the core less.

I'm really confused why so many want to make such big changes to a team that, when healthy, has shown to be a top 3-4 team in the conference, despite not a single starter being able to rent a car without parental permission.

This team has *barely* played half a season, and played less than a handful of games whole. Their best players have all missed a decent amount of time with injuries or covid. All that and they're still 2.5 games out of 1st in the Conference. They have 2 should-be All-Stars and a likely ROY. *No one* thought this team would be this good this year. If this was a veteran team with a tight championship window, I'd understand pushing all your chips to the middle and trying to cash in this season. These guys are young pups, though. This year is house money. See what we really have and *then* make a move in the offseason.

I am not against it, but what happens if we can get a long term piece without giving up any of the main players we currently have? It feels like as fans, I just don't want to finish the 21-22 season as the 6 seed, but I want to get as high as possible ya know?

I actually kind of like the fact we should have a mid 20 pick and two more picks likely within the first 10 picks in the second round. We should be able to get two role players to add to the team. This organization is in a good place, but I just want one more piece personally.

Maybe the trade us in February, maybe in the summer but I have an idea of a win-win situation for the Cavs and Raptors. Swap Lauri for OG Anunoby.

Anunoby and Markkanen are less important to their current teams due to Mobley/Barnes. The Raptors have a need of a 7 footer who can stretch the floor. They have plenty of wings (Siakam, Barnes, and Trent). Cavs are heavy in the front court, but could use a wing.

The contracts of Markkanen and OG are very similar. It’s an easy swap. It will help provide a need for both teams going forward. Maybe the Cavs have to include the Rockets 2nd to sweeten the deal.
