Cavaliers Trade Ideas: 2022-23 regular season edition

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
How long is Barnes under contract? If it's beyond the 22-23 season, the very clear value he'd bring is an expiring contract and roster flexibility for the following season(s).
Barnes is in the last year of his deal @gambler

ufa as well......he is the far, far, far better fit for the cavs than the injury-riddled love.....and for a first rounder...should SAC agree to it.... you theoretically and statistically get OG if you believe that hariisons recent SAC defensive ratings were a by-product of circumstance as opposed to ability

Three targets who’s trade value has slipped the past year.
D’Angelo Russell for Sexton and Okoro.
Jonathan Isaac and a second round pick for LeVert
Buddy Hield for Osman, Windler, Wade and 2 second round picks
Garland Rubio Neto
Russell Hield Agbaji
Markkanen Isaac Agbaji
Mobley Love Isaac
Allen Mobley Isaac

Sexton to D'lo is a downgrade. Isaac hasnt played in 2 years and might be a locker room issue. On board for Hield tho,

Russell is a better defender than Sexton and can create offense for others. He’s on the last year of his Rookie extension at $30 mil. Kind of a prove it year for him. Seems like prove it years are a great motivator. I might be a little blinded by my Buckeye fandom though. HaHa. Cavs get his Bird rights. I think he fits better than Sexton as a Starter.
I agree with your Isaac evaluation. Probably giving up too much in LeVert to get him and a #2 but it should be a high #2 and the Salaries match. A bit of a risk there. But the guy is a tremendous talent and only 24. Orlando definitely doesn’t need him at this point. Has 3 more years at $17 mil. Easy contact to unload if he doesn’t work out. Dude has to get healthy eventually.

DLo can't start next to Garland either, and quite frankly, nothing he's done since signing that max deal has made him worth even $20M per.

There no chance, none, I'd attach a first to Love to turn him into Barnes. Also, that stat muse snippets are really misleading. A player's defense rating over the course of his career tells you very little without knowing the defensive ratings of the teams he's on. Barnes, for example, was on the pre-Durant Warriors who were a really good defensive team.

Love for Harrison and a first id have to think about but I'm not giving up assets for a rich mans Travis Outlaw

I would do Windler, Osman and a second rounder for Doug McDermott in a heartbeat, and I have no idea why the Spurs wouldn't accept. They are Wanking for Wembanyama this season. Give us your vets, Pops!

That would free up a roster spot but increase payroll, which would lower the amount we could offer Sexton without going into the tax. But love the idea of turning osman/windler into a useful vet.

That requires the Cavs to take back salary next year and there's nothing McDermott does that both Love and Lauri don't do better. Pop would drive McBuckets to Cleveland himself.

Sweet, always good for our squad to talk to Pops. Fuel up.

McDermott shot over 42% from three. Can't say anybody on the Cavs roster did that last year.

I am aware that McDermott is more salary next year, but we also know the Cavs lost a bidding war for him last off-season. So basically I've seen worse investments.

And at the end of the day, I'm not one to spam up the board with fantasy trades. I average one in the off-season, one at the deadline. This is just meeting my quota.

He's really, really bad at every other facet of basketball. There's not a single other basketball skill he even plays at replacement level. Also, his attempts went down last year because his overall suckage was so high, Pop kept yanking him. I don't think you can justify giving him minutes ahead of Love and Wade.

Never attempted to justify playing him over Love and Wade. I suggested I'd trust him off the bench more than Cedi and Windler, plus the Cavs need to move a guaranteed contract for Sexton. Two reserve small forwards for one.

And again, this is my annual fantasy trade which Koby Altman will never read. Let's not take it too seriously.
