Cavs @ Bullet 7:00pm 5/2/08

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Here is the link to the feedback section of Papa John's website.

This is what I sent them.

As a long time supporter of your pizza chain, words cannot describe how disappointed I am with your marketing decision to endorse the "Crybaby 23" shirts that fans were wearing at the Wizards/Cavs game on national television last night. It was uncalled for and classless. LeBron James is one of, If not THE most coveted, respected and well liked players in sports today. Rest assured that I will no longer be endorsing your pizza from this day forward and I will make sure that anyone and everyone that I know understands what a poor decision you as a company made on this night.

Former Customer,

Here's mine--

Ever since college, PapaJohn's has been my first choice when it came to delivery pizza. After your sponsorship of last night's "White-Out" at the Verizon Center (Game 6 of the Cavs-Wizards NBA playoff series), I no longer consider my self a customer.

Please understand me. Corporate sponsorship of athletic teams and sporting events adds to the experience of the fan, and in normal situations, generates great publicity and goodwill. However, the "Crybaby #23" promotional T-Shirts show poor taste and a lack of judgment.

Supporting a team is one thing. In today's day and age, denigrating another team is probably considered acceptable. However, ad hominem attacks cross the line. Your promotional T-Shirts assailed the personal character and integrity of a 23-year old. It highly inappropriate, especially coming from a national chain.

You may have "better ingredients, better pizza," but until you show better judgment and show your remorse, I'll have to settle for Domino's.

Do the right thing. Issue a public apology.

Papa John's F*ck You!

I also sent in my complaint and am now waiting on a response.

Over on a Browns board several people posted about the responses they got and all basically said that the owners that called them were even more irate with the promotion then the fans were. It was supposedly sponsered by a lone Papa John's franchise in the DC area without permission from corporate. You can bet that guy's ass is canned.

Each person who heard a response, said that the managers made sure to inform them that Papa John's was going to go out of its way to make it up to Clevelander's and that the situation in DC will be dealt with.

I feel bad for owners of Papa John's here in Northeast Ohio. One stupid decision by some guy in DC just cost them tons and tons of money.

Now that this series is over, I have concluded that this whole Lebron/Stevenson/Rap War thing was a publicity stunt to extend Soldja Boy's 15 minutes. I mean c'mon, he can't live on that same crappy song forever. His face is now back in the public eye.
