Could be right.

The offense will need to be Top-10 though to sniff the playoffs.

They have the weapons on paper to be top 10, but can they execute. If i'm correct Baker was the highest rated QB on opening drives last year and that was normally about the only drive the Browns followed the game plan. After that Freddie's play calling was all over the place. Hopefully we can follow the game plan more this year which should equal to a much improved QB. Cant wait until Sunday!!!

Aside from having a coach that game plans beyond the first drive, I really do think calling plays that 1) use lots of running and PA to set up the pass and 2) don't require constant 7 step drops, empty sets, and slowly developing routes will make a massive difference for Baker. Kitchens' offense had very low margin for error from a QB and oline standpoint. Based on Stefanski's history, the offense should provide Baker and the o-line a much higher margin for error.

I think under Freddie they did game plan more than 1 drive but then he would always deviate from the plan and so often there was much confusion. Baker had to tell his WRs where to line up at times because plays were called that they hadn't really practiced. I don't often agree with Grossi but he said it was normally chaotic during crucial plays or in the redzone.

The “defense was average before we lost Myles” isn’t true but everyone wants to repeat it. They were 24th in the league when Myles went out and finished 25th. There wasn’t some precipitous drop. Maybe they looked different in how they played, but the results weren't much different.

Curious... this is according to what metric? Yards per game allowed?

Because according to Football Outsiders the Browns were ranked 15th in the NFL in DVOA Defense after the Week 11 victory over Pittsburgh.

By the end of the year they had dropped down too 22nd in DVOA Defense. Which means over the last six weeks, they played like one of the worst defenses in the league en route to dropping 7 spots in six weeks.

If you want to take an even more simplified look at it...

Games 1-10: Browns allowed 21.2 points per game (equivalent of 13th in NFL)
Games 11-16: Browns allowed 27.5 points per game (equivalent of 25th in NFL)

So who plays slot corner with Williams out? I’m assuming Johnson will also be out and Terrance Mitchell slides outside for Williams.

man, I want to be optimistic about the game and while I think the offense will score its share i could see the defense surrending 38-45 pts and I’m not sure we can keep pace with that.

Probably MJ Stewart.

Jarvis Landry (hip) said his Week 1 playing time will be dependent on the Browns' gameplan.
Landry has been cleared for team drills since training camp. He's not listed on the Week 1 injury report, but Landry isn't fully over offseason hip surgery. Landry’s early-season snaps look likely to be managed. Odell Beckham and Austin Hooper are better bets than Landry for Week 1 targets.

10-6; we go on a 7-1 stretch

Statistically, I have to be right one of these years.
