Cleveland Browns 2021 Regular Season: RIP

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Watching Rodgers. He is going to destroy the Browns
Never know. If we can dominate their o-line then you'll start to see some of his warts too. Dude is elite but he's not without some flaws.

I think a conservative approach on defense might be best, because he will kill blitzes. Our d-line will need to be able to get pressure on its own.

I'd like to see a similar approach vs. Carr next week also in terms of blitzing, but I'd like our DBs to be very aggressive in coverage. Carr will hold onto the ball in the pocket sometimes and eat drive-ending sacks.

Hello. Guy who melted down and said playoffs are gone last week here.

Well that was before the Steelers, Ravens, Bengals, Bills, Raiders, and Texans all lost.

Given the outcome this week, I actually think we can win the division. Bengals and Steelers losing was an absolute gift. The big problem is I still just think we are an incredibly flawed team that can't put teams away even when we jump out to a great start. But looking at the Ravens and Bengals schedules... its some tough sledding.

Bengals:
@Denver
Baltimore
KC
@browns

Ravens:
Packers
@Cincy
Rams
Steelers

Kansas City is probably the hottest team in the league currently and Denver has been pretty solid. Rams have Odell so they are no longer beatable. Packers offense is piping hot and we don't even know if Jordan will be able to play. I actually don't think its super unlikely the Ravens lose out. Yinzers defend Joran better than probably any team in the NFL. Packers are going to be a bear for both us and the Ravens. Bengals seem like they have no fear at all of the Ravens.

We all know Baltimore has had their fair share of absolute fluke wins this season and they have never been as good as their record indicated... but a finish below .500 would be amazing

the fatal flaw with all this theorizing is that while I love to dunk on the flaws of other teams, we have serious structural issues that are going to make going 3-1 pretty damn difficult

but whatever, 10-7 division winners why not

Just saw a stat that the Browns have score 7 points in the last 8 4th quarters combined… that’s inexcusably terrible. If you want to look at just two stats that have told the tale of the season, it’s that and our performance defensively on 3rd down (and yes I know we were better on third down today). If we’re league average in both of those statistics then we’re in first place in our division and talking optimistically about the playoffs.

It doesn’t matter where you land on the Baker debate, the above points to coaching just as much as execution. We need solutions for the above.

I sorted the ESPN Playoff Machine by defense rank and they had the Browns winning out and getting the 3rd seed...

With that said, where do you rank Browns defense vs Oak, GB, Cin, Pit? They definitely turned a corner and will be the backbone going forward this season.

A team with the Browns defense should beat all of those teams above with GB being the only threat to win. Very happy we have Cincy at home.

Cinci is weird this season. They are 3-4 at home and 4-2 at away games.

If the Browns can finish 3-1 with the only loss being at Green Bay, I think they're a lock for the playoffs. Either as the outright AFC North winner or as a wild card.

I'm very hard pressed to see a scenario where 10 wins does not get a spot considering the Browns have the tiebreaker on Denver and would earn the tiebreaker on Cincinnati en route to those 10 wins.

Surprised to read the Browns and Packers are neck and neck when it comes to yards allowed per game. Packers are also in the top ten of points allowed per game.

Shut out Seattle with Russ and kept KC under 13 pts in a loss are the performances that stand out to me.
