Cleveland Browns 2021 Regular Season: RIP

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think i found one of the reasons the passing game may have struggled yesterday....

Yes i know it says blocking TE. But it lets you lineup run/pass packages pretty quickly if the 4th String tackle is lined up at TE

They threw out of the package a decent amount.

The passing game struggled, as it does every single week, for the same reason.

Hell Njoku is probably one of our best vertical threats right now. Just him not being on the field makes us easier to defend.

Maybe just maybe if they would shit can the ridiculous 3 tight end set, the field would open up. No team in the NFL uses 13 personnel even remotely close to what the Browns do. An Ivy Leaguer like Stefanski should have figured this out a long time ago.

Last year when they made the playoffs they were overwhelmingly successful at it. This year, a lot of their chunk plays have came from it.

Using 3 tight ends is not utilizing/maxinizing the talent of this team. There are solid reasons why other teams don't do this.

It actually is maximizing the talent of this team.

Three of this teams top five receiving threats are tight ends. Two of which are athletic enough to run a more advanced/deeper route tree.

The same three tight ends are also average/above average blockers, maximizing our biggest threat, Nick Chubb and Hunt when healthy.

Baker is best on play action.

Using 1/3 maximizes this teams philosophy and structure moreso than any other formation.

However I would also say part of the 1/3 is through necessity as the browns dont really have any truly talented standout WRs.

In fact there is a legit argument that Hooper and Njoku both are bigger threats than any WR on the browns. Though the numbers between DPJ/Landry/Hooper/Njoku are all pretty much identical as far as total yards.

Do the Browns have a guy with even half this ability? WR in R1 has to be a near certainty.

Not. Even. Close.

But Baker should be the only QB that can win without a set up table.

Remember that Rashard Higgins guy? Very valuable presence last year, made Landry better. Was Bake's 3rd down guy...

Yeah. Do we have a guy with half this skill?

Yeah, totally. Half of the best when there is 150+ WR isnt saying much.

I’m not disagreeing we need WR talent. It’s just a route that when a WR is on an island that isn’t impressive. It’s one v one slant and you need three yards.

Renfroe runs this route with equal success and they aren’t in the same stratosphere of physical talent.
