Cleveland Browns 2021 Regular Season: RIP

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Kevin Mack getting namedropped in there with Jim Brown, Leroy Kelly and borderline HOFer Eric Metcalf.
Had Marion Motley, Mack & Byner as well, and I wondered why Baldy added Eric. Then it hit me: Baldy thinks this line is so good that even “Metcalf up the middle” would work.

Reuben Foster:
  • ¼ cup butter
  • ⅔ cup dark brown sugar
  • 3 ½ tablespoons rum
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 large Rueben sandwich
  • 1 pint vanilla ice cream
I approve of this joke.

In seriousness, Metcalf would be awesome on this team. That speed and receiving ability would be a great replacement for Hunt.

There’d of course be no excuse for running him up the middle. Banking on Stefski redeeming the immediate slide following Belichick figuring everything out all at once in another city and the old Browns winning a Super Bowl in Baltimore.

I'm not sure where he'd fit. Never seemed like a zone runner to me. Split out wide? Felton role?

I know I'd take Hunt over him as the rb2 for this scheme.

How about Touchdown Tommy Vardell? Or William Green?

Hamstrings linger. Tough situation, but the Browns face the Texans and Bears at home the next two weeks. This is a good time to break in JOK and see if Fields has anything to offer.

It's be really nice to have Phillips right about now... JOK and Fields don't bring the size and run-stopping that we look for in a MLB.

If Walker misses extended time, that's going to hurt. Malcolm Smith looked like time finally caught up with him, and Takitaki and Wilson both suck.

I know positions aren't actually as interchangable as fans think--but I honestly think I'd rather have Ronnie Harrison play starter snaps as a linebacker, with LeCounte/Delpit filling his hole at safety (phrasin), than have Smith/Takitaki/Wilson playing every down.

I would have agreed, but JOK was a solid takcler in the preseason despite his size. I say move Takitaki to Mike and let JOK play outside.

4-5 years ago I thought linebackers were like running backs - you can draft one in the mid-to-late rounds and they’ll be fine, just plug them in and play. I’ve since learned that I was (and probably still am) a complete dumbass.

I never said JOK isn't a sure tackler.

The MIKE in this scheme is typically asked to be bigger and more stout than what JOK is. I'm not sure what we saw against the few run plays the Chiefs called, but it shouldn't be unusual for Walker to have to take on an offensive lineman in run fits.

I think Takitaki is worse than Malcolm Smith.
