The more research I do the more I just don't see Baker failing.. he always gets better the higher the competition.. everyone has seen by now the accuracy issues and patterns dating all the way back to high school with Josh Allen , but on the flip side , Baker has always been a winner and accurate QB .
Baker in high school played 2 years..his Junior and senior year. Very first year Won a state championship as a junior. In the two years and 29 games, he put up:
6,255 yds passing. 429/666. 64.4% comp.
67 passing td's to only 8 ints.
1124 yds rushing, 14 rushing tds
Walks on at Texas Tech as a freshman and starts day 1. First walk on freshman to ever start game 1 in BCS history...Very first game he goes 43/60 72% for 413 yds and 5 total td's. Named big 12 offensive player of the week first week as a true freshman. Texas tech Starts off 5-0 for the first time since 2008 until Baker gets hurt and Davis Webb took over. In those last 8 games with Davis Webb as the starting qb, Texas Tech goes 3-5..Baker then transfers to OU and the rest is history. The dude has always been accurate, efficient, doesn't turn the ball over. Simply a game changer that wins. Even as a true Freshman on a 8-5 team, getting hurt and only appearing in 3 more games that season, he still posted a 64.1% comp. Percentage which was the lowest of his QB career. Since a 16 year old kid, he has been between 64.1%-71% in accuracy. In any system and on any team. And has won at every level. Dude gets it done.
In 77 games played in his career since a junior in high school, Baker has put up
20,862 yards passing. 1455-2163 . 67.2% 198 passing td's to only 38 ints.
Another neat stat in regards to Darnold and fumbles. Throughout his entire 4 year college career, Baker only had 5 fumbles lost.
