Cleveland Cavaliers Summer League 2019

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I dont necessarily think it is a good sign that Zion has already blimped out and he cant shoot or drive.
He obviously needs to get into game-shape but he isn't alone in that. I was very happy to see Garland wasn't playing in SL specifically because most of these guys will never play in the NBA, there is almost no organization to the games, and most of the competition is scratching and clawing for any contract they can get. This leads to guys running and diving around wildly and injuries. I'm surprised they don't happen more often tbh.

But yeah... his shooting and handle looked rough in his first outing. Slightly surprised how bad his handle looked. He may have been a bit too hyped. I hope that is what it is, because I want him to be great.

Kinda crazy that Frank Jackson is the best Blue Devil in this game.

This was evident since his college games. Very one dimensional. Well, I think Zion has good vision and passing instincts. But not a natural athlete despite being a 99.99999999999% explosive athlete

Cassidy Hubbarth is so cringey

Watching Duke.

I’m not super impressed by Zion outside sheer explosive ability. His handle is ass For a perimeter NBA player. He’s at risk of being a fat ass before age 27. Though he may not be our problem at that point. He seems to make his living on being a effing giant human who moves at an inhuman speed. Harder to live on that once you get to the NBA

Still looks like shit 8 months later.

I still remember the day this video was posted. Pretty much the whole board started to see it. It was for real. Then the medical red flags took it all away.

It makes me sad watching this in 2019 as the Sixers now sit as potential frontrunners in the East (depending on Kawhi) and our whirlwind title runs are over for a while. I must have watched that specific workout 100x in a week before his workout with us. He should have been a Cavalier. I loved him so much, I was OK with the Cavs taking him despite the bad medicals but I also understood it was way too risky. He fell right in Hinkie's lap and I guess I should just be happy things worked out for him.

What could have been, though.

You dont take a 7 footer with a navicular fracture first in the draft

Like wise you dont take a 7 footer who weighs 205 with a bad attitude who plays no defense with a navicular fracture anywhere in the draft

I was so bummed out about Embiid that I talked myself into Wiggins star potential.

Darius Garland is becoming more intriguing by the second watching this mess of a performance by RJ.

... though SL means exactly nothing for guys not named Russell Westbrook (it was clear many teams made a mistake as soon as he stepped on the floor) and a few others.

Still, if you were worried RJ had Jeff Green potential, nothing that has happened in the first 3 quarters of this mess has done anything to assuage that concern.

Yeah, I know... just couldn't do it. And he ultimately landed in the right spot, meaning a place that would do the opposite of rush him back before he was ready which may have saved his career.

But man, that one really hurt.

I watched Wiggins in summer league with us. He looked like a number 1 pick.

I was right there with you. I tried so hard to move on from JoJo. It was ... hard.

EDIT: Uh-oh. Earthquake?

That last possession at the end of the 3rd quarter by RJ Barrett perfectly encapsulates his game
