Cleveland Cavaliers Summer League 2019

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I watched Wiggins in summer league with us. He looked like a number 1 pick.

Hey, you just reminded me of this SL masterpiece:

Gotta love Summer League.

Wiggins did look like a No. 1 pick, but that draft was hyped as hell. Embiid was considered a level above, but most people thought Wiggins and even Jabari could've been No. 1 picks in other years (prior to Joel's injury of course).

Him turning out to be just another guy surprises me. I thought he'd at least be a high end role player at absolute worst. I just don't think he has a passion for basketball.

What?

Knox sucked hard last year. He needs all the time he can get.

Yeah, I don’t understand the logic behind this. How long has Jarrett Allen been in the league and just played in the summer league with the Nets.

4 years

So the Sportscenter highlights will consist of three Zion dunks (uncontested, mind you) and the earthquake.

None of the bricks and vomit inducing FT form I’d bet

Quake was pretty awesome in Vegas. I Was taking an epic shit and thought I caused it. Best part was when my wife ran for the nearest door way to stand under ( bathroom) and chose risking death than continuing to stand in the bathroom door way.

#wrong thread?
#hotel room stank for an hour

Ahh my favorite time of the year, where the top prospects look like shit in their first time stepping on the floor in a summer league, and suddenly they are pretty bad players with concerns about their careers going forward.

Cavs should sign Royce White to play Point Forward. He’s looking good in the Big3 league, and looked very good in the other league he played in last year.

I think Griff made a huge mistake of not using the #4 pick to give Zion someone with star potential next to him. He surrounded Zion with high level role players and the one asset he had to get a potential star, he wasted it by trading down.
I also don’t think Jaxson Hayes is anything special whatsoever.

The whole team is just a bad fit with Zion.

Right now Zion's game is similar to Blake Griffin's coming into the NBA. Zion is younger, has more defensive upside. But if you watch a young Blake Griffin and a young Zion offensively they are eerily similar. Zion has more confidence in his jumper at this stage. But his jumper isn't good yet. And Griffin has surrounded him with mediocre 3 point shooters who need the ball (Jrue, Lonzo, Ingram), young guys who don't have elite upside (Hayes, NAW), and vets who are good fits (JJ and Favors). He should have kept the 4th pick and gone after Darius Garland (Elite shooter perfect fit next to Zion can play on or off ball) or Hunter (Elite in the catch and shoot game and switchable defender next to Zion would be a dream defensively). Jrue or Ball - JJ Redick - Hunter or Ingram - Zion - Favors is much more deadly then Jrue - Ball - Ingram - Zion - Favors. I just don't see where he had a great offseason. Griffin added a huge group of players and got Zion. But the collection of players he acquired don't really fit together.

Griffin passing on Garland still leaves me headscratching. Hopefully he doesn't know something about him we don't yet.
