Crop Rocks is great (fantastic sandwiches) and the adjoining On Air Studios is a nice facility that should be booking major music acts soon. Has big garage-like doors that open right out onto the new boardwalk and the river. Most other stuff is super packed, like Punch Bowl Social and the Big Bang Piano Bar. Alley Cat oysters is a nice spot to eat, as well as Willeyville and Bold. So I'd say it's worth at least an early evening to late night visit.
