Cleveland Guardians Offseason Discussion 2021-22

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I am not against Haniger, but we have to see where our OF crew actually ends up... I feel like we will get production, but if we went and got him I wouldn't have any qualms either...
There is also a possibility Haniger plays himself out of our price range...

There is also a possibility Haniger plays himself out of our price range... or close.

I don't think he does, but I could be wrong. We will see where he ends up as the season ends.

Well, let's look at next year from this standpoint... if you get an extension done for Jose, you won't need a 3B. The future of SS will be some form of Gimenez, Arias, or Rocchio. Second could be Gimenez, Freeman, or Chang. 1B if Bradley flames out could end up being maybe Naylor. Maybe. But I think first base is still kind of in flux. You know Straw will be in center.. so your three question marks for sure entering next season are the corner OF spots and catcher.

3.1 bWAR in 2021..

Eddie Rosario got a 2(3) year deal making 18 million guaranteed 9/9/option

If Mitch is better in 22 than he was in 21.... He's gonna make some bucks. Still should be affordable, but he'll make around 15 million a season going forward IMO

Not bad at all, it's pretty solid. A few too many whoooahs but I can only assume the Dolans paid by the word. As an intro song, it works. It's no Marlins Will Soar (holy shit why did I not know that awesomeness existed) but what song is?

Was done by the Welshy Arms, a local band, and some other local acts; been out of the loop of the local music scene for too long so I'm unfamiliar with the Lady Bri and the other one. Gotta give the team some props for going local with it.
I’ve been following Welshly Arms for a while. They actually created a hype video song for the Indians’ post season run in 16 I believe. And another for a destination cleveland video. They put on a great live show, definitely worth checking out. Bri Bryant is actually a member of the band as a supporting vocalist. Lady Bri is her solo effort.

But honestly at the moment, we really aren't going to be looking at FA a lot next season. I think it will be extensions and trades with this current team..
Ya, unless most of the new guys bomb or there are some trades, your probably looking for a C, a RH 1B, and a corner OF. C would hopefully be a stop gap or share time with Lavistida if things go well. 1B would either be a platoon with Bradley or take over if Bradley fails this year. Corner OF wouldn’t be needed if Naylor and Kwan play well or they feel that Valera is ready.

This doesn’t take into account Jones or any trades this year, and also assumes that some combination of Arias, Gimenez, Miller, Freeman, and Chang have enough success to cover SS and 2B.

All the projections have him between 2-3 WAR which isn't an increase from 21... (his fielding numbers hurt his overall WAR)...

I just think they will work on the nucleus we have here and get them extended while maybe signing 1-2 veterans probably in the bullpen... I think if Bradley fails, we should let a Chang, Miller etc get a shot at it. I mean if Chang has a good 22, and he can play 1B with average to above average opening 2B for the prospects. Plus we have Naylor and/or Jones who could play 1B, plus Noel was a monster in 21, can he keep that up?

C is likely a position we will sign in 23, whether it's a Hedges to mix with Lavastida or someone maybe with a bit of a better bat like a Barnhart...

The more info I get on Lavastida/Naylor the more I worry neither will be ready come 2023. But I guess if our baseline is Sandy Leon level production then they should be fine.

Hence why I kind of wanted a McGuire/Ali Sanchez, someone we can trust defensively and has team control to be the backup long term until they are both ready.

Haven’t you heard? USA Today or something picked us to win 74 games and come in dead last.

Season is over bub.
That’s such a strange projection. We were ravaged by injuries last year and won 80 games.

I don’t see a single spot on the field where we got worse than what we had last year.

Obviously, it’s baseball, and the range of possible futures for each team is pretty wide, but I think we’ll beat that projection quite easily.

These fuckers are going to get my hopes up and then crush them by not signing Jose aren’t they?
