Just got word that Cliff Lee has signed a three year extension, should be announced next week.

Keep your eyes open, I got a good source on this.

Maybe this will shape him up since he has had a mediocere season so far.. nice find a mac I hope your right..

lol...what is he thinkin???

he definitely should've tested the market...he could've gotten what would probably be a much better deal(doesn't he know that dolan is a cheapo!!???!!??) and from a much better team

Great move by the Indians... Getting Cliff locked up, was the number 1 priority.. The guy has Cy Young stuff, we as a ball club just need to get it together..

This is true. His wife was on the Les Levine show yesterday and kind of gave a hint that he was staying....

I hope that Dolan doesn't think that resigning Lee is propelling this team into the ****ing playoffs. It's blatantly obvious that our young guys need some big time vets to come in and learn from...

Tigers did it with Pudge and Kenny Rogers.

Lee would be eligible for 3 years of arbitration, so it's not like he suddenly could have been a free agent after this year. Basically all the Indians did was buy out those 3 arb years, and got cost certainty on him. If he has some good years, they will have a bargain. But this 3 year extension is basically nothing in the whole scheme of things inasfar as for how long he could be on the indians.

I thought for sure Dolan would cheap out now that Sowers has emerged as another strong lefty. This is a very good signing for the Tribe. Now we need to get our bullpen fixed.

Now we need to get our bullpen fixed.

That is the only weakness we have....

The season is over we all know that so it is time for us to get prepared for next yrs FA class and run the list deep with plan b,c,and d. The first thing we need to do is get Belliard long term, and then bring some solid pitching vets to bring the young guys along.

Ummm, we traded Belliard. Or are you talking about bringing him back here???

INDIANS SIGN LEE TO A MULTI-YEAR CONTRACT More Than $103 Million Dollars Now Committed to Core of Team; The 27-year Old Lefty Finished 4th in 2005 AL Cy Young Voting

The Indians today announced the club has signed LHP CLIFF LEE to a three-year contract extension thru the 2009 season with a club option for the 2010 campaign.

Lee owns a career Major League record of 44-25 with a 4.47 ERA in 99 career starts (582.0IP, 589H, 289ER, 202BB, 445K) with the Indians since being acquired from the Montreal Expos in June of 2002.

Since April of 2005 the Indians have signed DH TRAVIS HAFNER, LHP CC SABATHIA, CA VICTOR MARTINEZ, OF GRADY SIZEMORE, INF JHONNY PERALTA and LEE to long-term contracts totaling more than $103 million dollars in guaranteed player salaries.

Man it sounds like Larry Dolan put together that press release. I like how it mentions twice that they have committed spending $103 million.

Nailed that one, go Mac.

Spending 103 million on our players is nice..but 103 in total worth of contracts really isn't shit. Good teams have a higher yearly payroll then that.

I'm pissed because Dolan is still not going to let us sign any big time free agents, we're going to be bringing in the occasional 35 year old utility infielder to play twice a week and wondering why our team is 30 games out of first ****ing place.

I hate it..I haven't watched a Tribe game in forever...Wedge is a terrible coach who has to go. Shapiro is an excellent GM but he isn't being given the tools to show how great he is.

If Shapiro was the GM of the Yankees they would be dominating anyone and everyone. Cashman is a below average GM with a lot of resources so it makes him look good.

Shapiro is a great GM with 0 resources. It's like Bill Parcells said "Don't complain about the dinner if your not going to let me shop for the groceries"

I'm sick of watching us sit back and hope that a 31 year old releiver Brian Sikorski is going to immediately turn the team around. We were almost done rebuilding last year and we're back at square 1 pretty much. The Tribe will be terrible until Dolan either opens his wallet or sells the team.
