If that's correct, then you have to take him. But you could always trade him after that if you get a good enough offer.
This is what I want the Cavs to do if they end up with the 2nd spot and can't get Williamson. See what else they could get by trading that second pick. You know Phoenix has to want Morant and Atlanta possibly Barrett.
It's a weird year to me where there is a clear #1 and then a few hyped prospects that have some major issues in their games still and you have to hope they overcome them in the NBA. This makes them risky picks up at the top of the lottery. There are lots of good players into the second round. In this particular draft I think it would be great to pick up another 1st or even some seconds.
As far as Sexton, all I can do is smile at this point. So many positives over the last few weeks, the skilled shooting, scoring multiple ways, low to zero turnovers with so much playing time in recent games, and watching him it does really look like he's starting to know when to blast away with the speed or slow it down for the best shot or pass.
Another thing that stands out is that where a lot of rookies would be fatigued at this point in their first NBA season (Doncic looks this way to me), Sexton seems to have a bottomless pit of energy. And he has taken a beating this year getting smacked going to the hoop.
Back to the draft: for all of the people that want a big time assist man how about the Cavs get some 2nd round picks and grab Cassius Winston (Michigan State) and let him either have a bench role as a rookie or develop in the G league. That guy is exactly what you want, similar assists numbers v Morant given equal playing time and against much better competition with a better assist:turnover ratio. Plus, he's a great 3 point shooter and crafty closer to the basket. Why is he not even listed in mock drafts? Concerns about his body. Yes he needs a professional training program which he would get in the NBA (to get stronger). He doesn't do highlight real dunks like Morant, just a much better all around basketball player at this point.
