I stated earlier how I would just name Sexton, Love, and Drummond as starters then make the other 2 spots a on going float spots that are based on match up and who is playing best.

I actually don't see this as a negative for Garland's development. It would be a less of a emphasis on him and Sexton as a pairing to allow everyone to figure out lineups that work. It would also help to develop KPJ, Windler, Okoro, and Cedi better because they get more chances and are less likely to have to play out of position to get minutes.

The best thing for both Sexton and Garland is both be able to hold down the PG duties. If they both end up our top players I think that's when you start both of them and figure out the rest. At this stage though, I don't think Garland has proven he is a starting quality guard and it will hold back his development as well as the wing players to keep him full time in the starting unit.

Stop making sense!

Start Exum he's played much better than garland in preseason. You start 2 small players in garland and Sexton other teams are going to destroy them.
I like this idea better than Garland-Sexton. If the Cavs want Sexton as a SG so bad, this is the way to go.

Just wondering if folks still think Darius can't play PG in the League...

Garland's passing and court vision is too good to give up on. Once he gets going, he can shoot too. Took a few courageous drives to the hoop. Not mad at him tonight, need to see more of this.

Played well tonight. He seemed to playing vs thinking and second guessing himself. Nice step forward. Now he needs to build off this. There were even a couple of passes he easily could have gotten more assists on. Jumper off of spot up shooting also looked good tonight.

I would probably say that was the best, most complete game of his career and he showed absolutely nothing in preseason to suggest this was coming lol

You could see the aggression, the confidence, how the game was slowing down for him. And the improved defense as well, not that he’s great yet or anything, just not quite as atrocious as last year. The biggest difference was that his shot wasn’t falling, and the games were really choppy .

Watching the highlights I like the high arc he is using on the 3-pointers and pull-up jumpers to prevent blocks.

At the 1:01 mark of the video he takes it down the lane and lays it up high off the glass to get it over the block attempt by Byombo. His shot hit the glass above the box and still dropped in. Last year his layups were getting blocked. He had no shots blocked last night because he's learned to get his shot up quickly with a high arc and put his layups higher on the glass like Kyrie.

The question has always been whether his offense will be enough to offset his defense. It's going to be awhile before we know that.
He wasn't bad on D last night. Really just needs to be average there if he can pass and score - which he has the ability to do. The question is if he can do it all the time. He had some insane passes last night and got into good positions for good looks. The wayside this team appears to work, they will find the guy in position. My favorite play from him was actually the pull up 18 footer from the top of the key. He saw the lane close and took a nice, clean shot. Good form, smooth release. Good skill there and also good vision to see the drive was not there.
