FWIW, Chris Fedor has Garland third in his "most improved" vote for the NBA post-season awards. Julius Randle of the Knicks was first.
After the All-Star break Garland shot 46.3% from the field and 40.4% on 3's, both numbers up about 2% from the first half. His rebounds, assists, and steals were also higher in the second half and his personal fouls were lower. Turnovers were up from 2.9 to 3.2 per game - the only area where he did not improve in the second half.
In his final month of April (he was hurt the first game of May) he averaged 20.5 ppg on 48% shooting and 7.3 assists. That was how he finished the season.
If 20 points and 7.3 assists on 48% from the field and 40% on 3's is where he starts next season as a 21-year-old, I don't think anyone will be talking about unloading him.
