I wanted Okoro last year, but I said that Haliburton was a guy that they had to take unless Darius was going to be great. Mobley has further complicated the Okoro pick.

Darius has to get it together or there will be another rebuild right now starting with Mobley.

Already should be. Including a new front office and coaching staff.

yeah Lavine is really strong too. That's a hard backcourt to match up with .

Darius is still passing up shots. Can't keep doing that.
I think Garland having issues with the length/defense of the Bulls backcourt is a reason they threw out Rubio to start the 2nd half last night. Of course Okoro was a big zero last night too which didn't help matters.

I agree Garland needs to let it fly like he apparently does in practice. He's not a guy that can use speed/athleticism and a quick first step to blow by defenders so he needs to use that 3 ball as a weapon.

The first two possessions of this game, Sexton came to the inbounder/rebounder and waved Garland down the court. One possession ended in Sexton passing it to Allen in traffic after a high PNR, whether bad pass or Allen just fumbled, it resulted in a turnover. The very next play when Sexton waved Garland down the court, Sexton took a step back three from the top of the key after a Allen pick when LaVine went under the screen. He made a point of saying he would do that and we want him doing that more, so I dont fault him.

My biggest gripe is that all of the organization is saying one thing, but it seems it has not been made clear what roles are/should be when the games start. And it also seems clear JBB does not have the fortitude or awareness to make sure these roles are defined and carried out in gameplay.

In an ideal world, Garland would do what Rubio does, and take the ball from Sexton and wave HIM down the court so he can set the table. Especially on the first few possessions of a game. If the org and the coaching wont do it, I need to Garland to grow a goddamn pair if he wants to lead a team and a offense.

Dillon Brooks aint waving Ja Morant down the court.

Man up, DG

Darius Garland isn't Ja Morant, but you are right that he is extremely passive. They can't have Garland and Okoro on the court together unless they are playing hot potato and planning on passing the ball back and forth to each other.

Also, dude has a ridiculous handle, but he just didn't seem to have it last night. Sometimes people compare his handle to Kyrie "light", but with Kyrie at least 2 or 3 times a game he's taking people off their feet or just making them look ridiculous, I just don't see Garland basically ever doing that. How do we get this dude some swagger?

I think that might be part of the reason JBB threw out Rubio to start the 2nd half last night.

Darius Garland can be BETTER than Ja Morant.

He needs to grow a pair and he needs an org and coaching staff clearly defining roles so he can grow

That's symptomatic of a larger problem with this roster. We always analyze if we have the right mix of "skills", but what about the right mix of mental toughness/leadership?

Allen, DG, and even Mobley all look to be more of the "quiet" type of leadership. None of them seem to be take charge/fiery guys. Okoro seems to have some of that defensively, and Sexton obviously has it on offense, but I don't think that's enough.

Other than Sexton, it kind of looks like we have a bunch of betas out there.

And Anthony Randolph can be BETTER than Kevin Garnett.

Sometimes dudes just are who they are. And in Darius' case, he's not that dude.

This disorganized team is going to suffer for the first part of the season so much so that I expect they may have incentive to blow it up or remove key coaches or managers etc. However , they have to know this is going to take a month or more with 3 new rotation players

I'm grateful you aren't an NBA GM then, respectfully
C'mon Rchfld..
Every single GM in the league would take Morant over Darius.
The Cavs could trade every single player on their roster not named Mobley plus picks and the Grizz would still say no to that deal.

I agree with this, Tip, but offer that whether you call it social disorder or something touching a spectrum, Collins alpha is so self consumed that even to start year 4, he's simply not wired to galvanize others or make the game easier for them outside of the spacing his scoring provides or dumpoffs from his blow by speed.

I don't fault him for it, I think I love him and instead see a tragedy in a dude who simply wants to eat & sleep to get buckets, not being with a competent enough org/coaching to maximize him.

When he was out there for 3 minutes to start the 4th with all 3rd stringers on both sides, he made one pass to Pangos that should have resulted in a layup but other than that there were about 4 possessions where his approach to the game and impact on the game, was the same as if he were playing with 9 other All-stars. Shot and made a pull-up 3, stood in the corner watching high PNR, passed to Pangos when his man helped on Sexton, stood and watched high PNR he was not involved in, subbed out.

He's simply just wired to score. Not lead, not communicate and inspire teammates to follow, not make the game easier for less talent... Score.

And a alpha scorer can be a dangerous bullet to have in your chamber, if you know when to situationally use it... (Off the bench)
