Great video. Ben views him as a borderline All-Star player this season and outlines the same weaknesses for Garland we’ve harped on. Size limits him on defense and he could improve his technique and awareness on helping, as well. And then in order for him to reach that next level of being an efficient volume scorer he’ll have to look to finish inside more and get to the line at a greater rate.
I think he can do it too. He has some Tony Parker in him with his mid-range game and how he finishes around the rim.

He just needs to get stronger and embrace physicality more. The finesse finishes are nice, but seeking and creating contact is important and ultimately leads to higher efficiency finishes.

Garland's 3P shot has the potential to be something special.

He is getting assisted on ~52% of his 3PA this season. As a matter of proportion, this is down 30% from his first two seasons. Despite this, his 3P% this season is 38.9%, up from 37.4% his first two seasons.

17.5% of his 3PA in his first two seasons came from the corners- aka the easy threes. This season? Less than 10%.

He is attempting 40% more 3PA than his first two seasons.

Too many numbers for me, didn't read:

Garland is shooting way more 3's, shooting way more harder 3's, and setting up his own 3's. He is shooting better than his first two seasons despite this increased difficulty.

Now that he isn't fat, his legs are healthy, and he's acclimated to the speed of the game, he is living up to that legendary pre-draft workout.

The stroke is pure. I like the stroke.

Darius Garland is third amongst qualified NBA PGs in effective field goal percentage (eFG%). eFG% adjusts for the fact that 3s are worth more than 2s. He is behind Patty Mills and Mike Conley.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, he is also third in true shooting percentage (TS%) behind those same analytics darlings. TS% is a metric that looks at 2s, 3s, and FTs.

Just wanted to point out how ugly LaMelo Ball is…

Pat Bev is #1
Schroeder & Boban can fight for #2

LaMelo (and even that Simons kid from Portland) is moving up the list fast….
No love for Tony Snell?

Today the Kia chick turns 40. For real.
Link this Kia chick. People keep mentioning her, and I alluded to rimming her in another thread sight unseen.

Need to know what we’re working with here.
