It looks like his back is getting sore and he holds it sometimes when he wears down in the latter part of games, it seems to be affecting aspects of his game. We need someone who can carry some of the load DG has been shouldering since Rubio went out. Hopefully Rondo can handle more minutes as he ramps up on his return.
I think the back injury or soreness or whatever is bothering him more than the Cavs are letting on. The drop-off in his 3-point shooting is the clue. It doesn't seem to affect his floater or his passing, however.

DG has to find the right balance between attempting a lot of high risk passes that get stolen but sometimes result in spectacular buckets and being too conservative and having low turnovers but also low assists.

With Sexton and Rubio out I think Garland is feeling like he has to either get a bucket or an assist most times down the floor and he's forcing the action a bit with his passing.

I hope he cuts out those hail mary 3's he shoots way outside the arc.
That is part of his range. If they're there and DG wants to take them then he should.

It seems to me even his floater has been less reliable than normal. And he's thrown some absolute stinkers of passes but he seems a little streaky when it comes to turning the ball over. I think when it's bothering him it affects his focus at times, at other times he can overcome it. I just think when he's tired it's worse, and he can't quite play up to his peak ability. He's still damn good even when he's off.

I hope he cuts out those hail mary 3's he shoots way outside the arc. His percentage isn't great this year, and turnovers are up lately :(
That has more to do with the lack of a Sexton or Rubio playing next to him and taking some minutes off of him more than anything. DG is having to be a workhorse right now, it makes sense that something is going to suffer when he gets tired. What I would like to see, is more 3 pt attempts earlier in the game before his legs get tired, his back tightens up.

I would have called him for traveling… If I’m the Knicks I definitely feel the refs stole this game and gave it to the Cavaliers…. My goodness that is egregious

This isn’t actually a travel. The steps don’t start being counted until after the gather. So the first step is a gather and the next two are legal.

He might be referring to Mobley sliding that pivot foot.

Cleveland can be afforded, at my last count, about 12 bad/borderline calls and lucky plays.

The LeBron crabstep non call and Arenas FT miss are all we have so far.

Waiting on a nice long string of non-fumbles, failures to review obvious plays, blatant travels and charges, bad hops and the like.

As soon as a foot is lifted the other becomes a pivot foot. Took 3 steps in that case without dribbling the ball.

That’s blatant…

He caught the ball by the ref made one dribble and moved over like 10 feet on one dribble :chuckle:

Incorrect. The first step is the gather which isn’t counted.

This is why everyone thinks Harden travels all the time but he just exploits the gather step rule.

Well looks like 4 overall steps to me, 3 after the dribble.. But it’s all good… If stuff like this helps the Cavs - keep exploiting gathering step rules

It is wild how many steps you can take while putting up a shot, but if your foot moves at all before the ball touches the floor...
