Anyone else see a little bit of Augustin in his game?
DJ always seemed to save his best game for the Cavs.. It would not surprise me if he has a career 24/11/7 .524/.465/.991 average on Cleveland.
DG has to find the right balance between attempting a lot of high risk passes that get stolen but sometimes result in spectacular buckets and being too conservative and having low turnovers but also low assists.
He had a few turnovers that were results of him trying to dribble out of trouble or through a double team too v the Knickerbockers. His next hurdle is the ability to split the double a'la Price and create a numbers advantage in the half court, seemed like he was working on it with not so great results.
I would have called him for traveling… If I’m the Knicks I definitely feel the refs stole this game and gave it to the Cavaliers…. My goodness that is egregious

Ref's knew they couldn't call it if they weren't going to call the offensive fouls by the Knicks.

I watched this a bunch of times trying to figure out just what I was seeing. As objective as I can be, from the time he catches his dribble I see him take one step, leap off that step, and land on 2 feet in shooting position. Although the landing had his 2 feet coming down one after the other, not at exactly the same time.

But it's hard as hell if you can't slow it way down and stop the action in various spots on my laptop, the way I can on my DVR.

The light schedule this week should hopefully help his back out. The break can’t come soon enough..even though he may be playing in the ASG it’ll be light work and still be good rest

Sure he's in a bit of a slump right now, but I'd say he was on a heater in the 1st half of the season. Hitting crazy Steph-like shots without batting an eye. The truth about him as an outside shooter is probably somewhere in the midde, as it usually is.
Nah. He’s much closer to that as a shooter than recently. His back being tweaked is the major reason plus other guys being out and defenses keying on him so much has been an adjustment for him, which he will figure out like he always figures something out.

The dude has a pure shot man. He’s going to be a great shooter in this league. He will be a 40% plus shooter regularly starting in the next couple years. My guess is he ends this year around 38% or so which is really good given the shots and volume he takes.

Makes up for the non-call on Morant a couple weeks ago.
That was my first thought too. Though Morant's was especially egregious.

Refs haven't called traveling by the book since ... well, maybe ever. Garland traveled on that play if we're going by the book, but it's easy to find plenty of other instances of traveling too, if "by the book" is the standard.

Traveling: It's the speed limit of the NBA rulebook. You've got to be breaking it pretty badly to get caught.

Mark Price was the master at splitting double teams when defenses showed hard when he came around a screen. Yep, Darius is working on that and the results have not been great, but I'm confident they will be. The key is to bend down and dribble very low because the opposing big man is stepping out and you need to get lower than he can go to slap the ball away.

Once Garland gets it down teams will not be able to double him coming off a pick.

One of the problems is Mobley is a weak high screener , he doesn’t get enough of his body on Garland man, which makes it a tight window for him to squeeze by, JA is a little better …. But I agree Garland need to be better himself….

Actually i walk away from every game thinking Allen is a terrible screener. He seems to move to soon to the basket or just never makes contact with who he is screening, its one area a little improvement would go a long way.

Terrible might be to strong, but he isnt average yet.

Not sure why that Knicks fan is complaining we got Garland. The Knicks could have had him and they passed, so that's on them, not the Cavs.
They drafted Barrett instead is their fucking fault Lmaoo is not our fault they have an incompetent front office

He was the consensus so it would have been hard not to draft Barrett. Waiting 3 years for Darius to come on doesn't seem like something they would have been able to do either. Hilarious

Actually our guards are terrible at using screens. Watch them. They don’t dribble their defender into the screen….they leave too much between them and the defender allowing the defender to slide off the screen
