Pops has been quoted as saying he prefers players who are "over themself".

Grammar edit: "over themselves"

I really disliked the Garland pick. And then hated how he played the first two years. Like HATED. I dont know how many times my wife got mad at me for yelling at the TV at him.

But then, he became something special and awesome. And now he’s amazing to me. I was so wrong. Thats what happens when you draft 19/20 year olds. They arent anything… until they are. (or hope to maybe be)

But my fear with his health still remains. He’s a bit fragile. Easy to pencil him in as an all-star/core player in the off season. But the Price, Daughtery/Nance years taught me nothing is given.

I think we need another core piece.

So why hasn't his max extension already been reported?

I wouldn't be surprised if we are haggling (in a polite way) - about whether this is technically a max contract, or the closest thing you can give to a max contract without having it be a "max". Garland is sort of a borderline max player, and not one of the obvious maxes like Jocic where you just send it out without thinking.

Also, giving the max contract now prevents us from giving mobley the supermax later -- and we might want to save that ability. Maybe we promise something else to Garland down the line which helps make up for the contract difference.

Darius looks bigger. He was significantly stronger last year, hope that continues. Hope he gets that conditioning up too.

Per Coon, a team can have two designated rookies. http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q24 The limit is that only one may be acquired via trade (which obviously doesn't apply to the Cavs here).
