Homerish? I don't care for the Hawks one way or the other. I have zero problems with Trae Young. Hes an elite chucker. I could care less about true shooting %. All it really means is he can hit free throws. Your not gonna tell me 35% from three on 8+ threes a game is an efficient scoring method. He's hoisting up threes pretending to be Steph. He can get inside but doesn't.

Yeah, young guards in structured offenses playing alongside weak passers and poor off-ball players(Clarkson, Sexton can shoot off ball but needs to move better) especially with such little college experience are going to have big ups and downs in taking care of the ball.

I think we've already seen that Garland has enough vision and can pass the ball well enough to where it isn't a glaring weakness a-la Sexton.

The shot is starting to come around-which is obviously the most important thing. Once that shot starts to create gravity on the court, which I have confidence in, I think Garland's game will open up. I still hate to see him not getting the minutes or USG I was hoping for, but I trust Beilein in developing guards.
 
Garland seeing the floor REALLY well tonight. Obviously the shots falling help, but that was always going to happen at some point and it will likely be fleeting for awhile ... but the passing is totally sustainable. I feel so much more comfortable with him initiating the offense right now than anyone else on the roster. I know he is coming off that crazy high turnover game, but this makes up for it. Hopefully the game is starting to slow.

You know it is good when Nance actually gave the ball to DG after a Bucks miss. Usually, Larry will scan the floor and opt for literally anyone else to bring the ball up the court. It was super passive aggressive. But, he just dribbled up to Darius and handed him the ball after grabbing a rebound.

That really puts this night over the top, win or lose.

Not comparing him stylistically to Harden. But Harden, Westbrook and now Young all seem to play the same game just different athletic profiles and skills. They want to get their stats no matter the means. Its why the they shoot low percentages (FG and 3PT) and have a lot of turnovers. They force things to get numbers and don't really play team basketball they play me basketball.

I don't wanna relitigate harden but if young can win 50 games no matter who is on his team then he's a good pick.
 
Really impressed by Darius tonight, it felt like he had everything going.

In regards to Garland, i'm really happy with the shot and confidence right now. He clearly gets more elevation on his shots now, and maybe it's a new kink because I swear he shot it more flat footed in college.

he still sucks for a #5 overall pick.
but taking & making some 3 point shots with Hill and others laying back must be great for his confidence he can get that shot off when it matters.

i am a Cavs fan not a homer, and i will scrutinize these hyped kids until they produce all i damn well please.
it was 1 game , now lets see how he does going forward. the best part for me is if youre right we both win, if im right we both lose but it will hurt you a lot more than it hurts me lol. move the chair
