Per 36 minutes Jarrett Allen is a consistent 15 ppg in his career and Dean is 10. Getting him back will help but he’s not the answer as the starting 3 although he may be the least worst option. He just doesn’t score enough.

Sooo...if JBB asks for and demands Dean be better than Minnesota Love, he'd get that?

Brilliant…. tell him to shoot the damn ball if you’re open. And go score if you’re not and shot clock is close. His %’s are a lot better than who he’s passing the ball to. I’m sure you don’t realize it…. But I’m actually pointing out something he needs to work on.

Coaching…….. You get what you ask for and demand.
Kevin Love has been a consistent 20 points per 36; 22 last season. Is the difference between Kevin and Dean due to coaching?

Dean has been a remarkable success story and I’m glad he signed a nice contract but he’s not good enough to be a consistent starter for a contending team. Neither are Okoro, Stevens, LeVert, or (God help us) Windler or Diakite. I think Dean will be here longer than any of that group except Okoro but we need a quality starter at the 3.

Are you saying Dean Wade is being told NOT to shoot the ball if he’s open?

He’s a career 2 assists per 36 while Kevin is 3.6 per 36 over the past four years. So Kevin gets twice the points and nearly twice the assists per 36.

If the coaching is so horrible how is it that JBB was starting Dean ahead of Ice before the injury? Ice makes more money and was a high lottery pick but JBB benched him for Dean (rightfully so).

Bashing the coaching staff of the Cavaliers for mishandling Dean is a old and tired take.

Count his touches per possession and willingness to shoot it per possession. I can tell you from experience that can be fixed by what the coach demands. Really pretty simple.

And no….. I don’t think he’s told much either way.

It's not the points he puts up, it's the fact that the other team doesn't ignore him out on the perimeter. He opens up the floor for our 4 best players rather than closing off the paint.

Dean says "Everyone always tells me to shoot"

So, it isn't what is being said. I liked what I saw of him letting it go and his release is quicker. That is great, but he needs to be on the floor.

If it's true his shoulder had been bothering him all season and he has been playing through it then that's slightly impressive. He has had some good production. I want to see him try with a healthy shoulder.

You're not going to find a 3 and D wing that scores like that without a big contract (Klay Thompson-ish) or is inconsistent and maddening (Tim Hardaway Jr., LeVert) or is a rookie/young player that nobody will want to trade. You could also forego the D part for a player like Doug McDermott. But any starting spacer/wing with our guards needs to be good defensively.

I would love to see JB give Wade the keys to the starting SF spot for the rest of the year. We have seen Okoro, Lamar, & LeVert play heavy minutes. He has the size, the defensive effort, and what seems to be a relatively reliable catch and shoot weapon. Slice okoros minutes, move Stevens to the bench, and LeVert can be our 6th man as he is a ball dominant player best utilized with the reserves. I have always been an advocate of giving players a solid 40 game sample of heavy minutes to really see what they can do. If he sucks- then we know what we have.

If Wade shoots 37%+ from 3 on good volume, defends well, and crashes the glass, he’s exactly what you need and by far the best available option for the starting 3 without finding a trade or the coaching staff having the revelation that Diakite is the way.

You’re not gonna get better production for the price and you’re likely not going to have the assets to even try and realistically upgrade until summer of 2024.

Good things seem to happen when Wades on the floor pretty often. Hopefully he will finally be fully healthy and stay that way.

if wade can stay healthy, imo, there is a very good chance that he will be a solid 12 minute guy in the playoffs...

RE starting three....without middleton ....the bucks are scoring three points less per game and have dropped to 18 ranking ppg from last years 3 but not entirely apples to apples because 14 ppg 38/3 lopez missed pretty much all of last season but you can clearly see how one player...albeit an all-star...can drastically affect the team.

wont be surprised at all if the cavs get 4 points net...maybe even 6... offense/defense when the legit small forward arrives just because both stevens and okras shooting is just so bad.

four more points gets the cavs to +9 which is pretty much a 60 win team ...a co-favorite to win a conference in any era

the sf is coming....this year
