Denzel Ward

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think I read that we are 25M under the cap next year. I think you see Keenum, Tretter, Bitonio, maybe Conklin all restructure. Hooper could honestly be cut and replaced for a fraction of the cost. So I wouldn't worry about cutting Jarvis to make room for Ward long term.

The money is there for everyone, especially with the cap rising & OBJ gone.

Look at the JJ3, McKinley, Clowney & Walker deals. Berry will find a way to add premium talent in 2022 without sacrificing flexibility going foward.

Someone who has a better understanding of the cap than I can chime in but Hooper has an $11.25m dead cap hit if cut after 2021. I'm not sure how much salary cap space that move would open up but I imagine it would not be a lot to upgrade/replace Hooper.

Yes.

If we’re looking at cutting people to save money, it’s Landry, then Tretter, then Keenum. Every other player saves you very littler or actually adds cap to cut.

Who did the Browns blitz most? Joe Burrow of 19 career pro games and rookie Justin Fields. Against the Patriots, I hope they blitz the heck out of Mac Jones. Run press coverage in a rotation with cover three and four to keep him utterly confused.

However, Joe Burrow doesn't play the position the same way Lamar Jackson plays the position. Press man against Lamar is tough because he will outrun a spy. So I'm not expecting press coverage for every offense we face.
If JOK is back, I think we've got someone who can take the right angles and allow us to mix up/disguise coverage and play some press man.

as @Douglar already said if we are just looking at saving money in 2022 then you dont want to cut Hooper as cutting him would add 2 million in cap space next year versus what he counts against the cap if he is on the team (11 million versus 9 million).

However by cutting him for 2022 then you save at least 7.5 in cap space for 2023

Not sure that's what I was saying. Maybe I should have said that good teams don't cut talent. They find a way to restructure existing deals so they can limbo under the salary cap without losing players they want to keep. Look what the Steelers did last summer to get out of salary cap purgatory.

Posting this here as well as only one of these players has yet to be extended...

Denzel has been killing it lately.
he has certainly stepped up his performance from earlier in the earlier in the year thats for sure. Great play on the interception on sunday.

... Landry ... He is not a fantasy football asset.
A damn shame ain't it?

It's all good, as Keys looks at Landry through the fantasy lens nowadays. Needed that Brown on his roster, and gave me about 10 TDs with James Conner to have that luxury. :chuckle:

Finally won on on ya....

If Landry and Baker were both healthy, I think they were both headed for a very different season. Both looked great against KC.

Oh well on fantasy football. Conner was slated to be my third or fourth back. I do find it bizarre that Landry is being compared to chumps. He's not an X receiver, but he's much, much more than just a slot receiver.

Would Jimmy G be the best looking QB we've ever had? More handsome than Brady Quinn?
