Deshaun Watson: Third Highest Paid QB in the AFC North (OUT for 2023)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That's right about the weather. We usually only have a couple bad home weather games per year. But the wind off the lake can be tricky even on otherwise mild weather days.

No way could I see the value in putting a dome on a football stadium. But that's a different topic.
Makes the location more appealing for athletes, also the ability to house more events. I think it makes more sense for the city than most places.

I don't get the more events argument. How many more and what events (in the cold months)? To me it makes perfect sense to put a retractable roof on your baseball stadium because you know you have 81 events locked in every year and, unlike football, baseball can't be played in the rain. Until you do that, it makes no sense to me to even discuss a top on a football stadium.

Not enough smokers anymore to afford a dome.

The Haslems looked into adding a dome when they bought the team. I think the problem was the existing structure couldn't support the dome and there was a question if the land could support the extra weight.

Concerts but typically they don't do concerts during the season because it ruins the field. Also they haven't done too many concerts even in the summer at first energy stadium because Blossom typically is the venue of choice in the summer for large concerts.

Last season a lot of us grew frustrated with Stefanski's use of empty backfield sets on offense, as they were largely ineffective for Baker running them.

I'm hopeful that Watson is good enough to be able to use those sets as anticipated, as well as do more things out of the gun than Baker ever has, to really be able to mix up looks for the opposing defense.

We know that Chubb can run the ball out of any set because he's shown that in his career. I hope this pairing is as dynamic as their talents suggest they could be.

I'd still like a retractable roof in a sense...

That was always my question with Watson since he cannot care about being the pass leader anymore in a sense. We are a running first team and he has to buy into that...

Watson is the real deal, boyos. He can run a heavy PA scheme or one from shotgun. There is plenty of film of him running boots, rollouts, etc…

Stefanski showed us his flexibility all last year, but Baker couldn’t operate from shotgun spread.

Stefanski is likely to attack based on the defense’s weakness. Some weeks it’ll be lots of PA, some lots of spread, and others a tasty mix. That’s balance that couldn’t be achieved with Baker last year, and the run game will be even more dangerous with a QB that can pass the ball.

I recall he played well in that shitty game vs. the Browns in 2020. Baker was decent, but they didn't really let him throw. Baker was 12-for-20 with 132 yards, Watson went 20-for-30 with 163 yards and 1 TD.

Worth noting that Deshaun hasn't played with a RB at the caliber of Nick Chubb or Kareem Hunt, especially at the same time. His two best RB seasons were Lamar Miller just under 1k, and then Carlos Hyde just over 1k the next season.

Not at the rate he did in Houston... that would make having Chubb and Hunt almost a waste of money...

When you complete 70% of your passes and average 8.5 YPA there is no statistical backing that even remotely leads to handing the ball off more than passing as a better option.

Watson will be the feature in this offense now and Chubb and Hunt are just amazing additional pieces that will make his life much easier.

And they should also have an increased health rate considering they'll lose touches and stay fresh.

But Deshaun to Hunt in the pass game is going to be like his Chiefs year.

When does the Browns tweet out they acquired Deshaun? Monday morning/afternoon?

I'm assuming they don't hold a presser with Deshaun.
