Deshaun Watson: Third Highest Paid QB in the AFC North (OUT for 2023)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
When you complete 70% of your passes and average 8.5 YPA there is no statistical backing that even remotely leads to handing the ball off more than passing as a better option.

Watson will be the feature in this offense now and Chubb and Hunt are just amazing additional pieces that will make his life much easier.

I would put good money he will pass less in Cleveland...

Now, my next question is, How good is Watson changing the play at the line of scrimmage. I could see them setting up on every play options between the run and the pass if Watson's judgement can be trusted to play for the team and not his numbers...

I guess I am hoping we can trust Watson to play for the team and not himself...

If a team traded 3 firsts and signs a QB to 230mil fully guaranteed, they aren’t a running first team anymore

If you pass as much as he did in Houston though, you have no reason to have so much many in the RBs... I guess part of me is saying, can he run the offense with more running plays mixed in since there is no way he is going to pass as much as he did.

I would assume team success is going to be very important to him now. He's got his money. Also, if we miss the playoffs next year because he's suspended for much of the season, there will be a lot of pressure for team success in the following years.

There’s a difference between a run first team and not throwing as much as he did in Houston and being a run first team.

Browns have been closer to 50-50 splits, with games they had the run established first, were the ones they won/were super close to winning. I think the run has to be established first with this offense, rather than Watson's passing, unlike in Houston were everything was based off of the passing. I think it was almost 60-40 in Houston and we aren't doing that with this roster...

So we have Cooper, DPJ and Schwartz? Gotta get another slot WR. I think DL in the second round is most important for us though.

If the Browns still gonna be 50-50 then the Browns spent way too much to acquire Watson.

Landry should be back, and we’ll do the due diligence on Fuller I’d assume, but he’s never healthy anyways.

I think we’ll go into next season with Cooper, Landry, DPJ and a rookie and that’ll be pretty damn good with Watson slinging the bitch around.

I don't think so, as long as Watson can adjust at the line of scrimmage. Cause opposing defenses have no clue if they will run or pass on any down. If he is unselfish back there, the 50-50 base split on paper may be the most effective offense.

Now, that can be adjusted game to game/as need be. That's why I am curious if Watson can legitimately run a pass offense and can he adjust plays at the line unselfishly. I think if he can do both, we could have a top 5 offense since with Watson, stack the box, he will find the hole. Don't stack the box, Chubb/Hunt will run right through you.

Definitely going into the new year with a solid rookie. We have 9 2022 draft picks not including the one from Baker.

I doubt we draft 10 players, trading up for a WR will be the most important move in the draft. (If Clowney re-signs)

This isn’t the same offense, Coach, that’s the thing.

The most important piece of the offense went from a Honda Civic to a Lambo.

Chubb is a premier back and makes good money, but he’s not the premier offensive weapon anymore. That’s a good thing. Hunt makes peanuts, and part of his allure is the passing game anyway.

If Stefanski is game planning with this team the way he did the past two seasons, he won’t be here long.

We aren't going to go straight passing though either. We probably gotta find something in between

Of course not, but nobody is saying that.

You’re just fooling yourself if you think Deshaun Watson is going to be in the game manager role that Mayfield was.
