i know it's a bit premature since the draft is a couple weeks away.

however, i wanted to know of some of the guys you think might not get selected and could be that "RARE" find for a team.

the one thing i have started to notice, is the championship style of players are the hard nose players that are being drafted in the late first, or second rounds- or non drafted players.

the spurs are a perfect example, they have several guys that were drafted either late in round 1 or second rounders- plus the best defensive perimeter player in the league in bowen who was undrafted..

parker
ginobili
bowen
udrih
brown

that's 3/5 of their starting lineup with their backup point guard and another serviceable player in brown..

when they won it a couple years ago they had stephen jackson who was a second rounder.

SO, IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE YOU THINK COULD HELP THIS TEAM that might not get drafted or a player we might be able to get if we get our hands on a second round pick..

i'll start with my two

ROGER POWELL JR.
TRAVIS DIENER

i am a big fan of Ronnie Turiaf who is being projected as 2nd rd pick by a couple different sources.

i also like Fransico Garcia who may be a late 1st eraly 2nd.

for some reason i see Daniel Ewing being a steal in the 2nd. Ewing is a good defender and a decent shooter.

Salim Stoudamire is a guy who may not be a starter in the league but he could be a spark off the bench.

i think Jawad Williams will be a solid player.

John Gilcrest could be a steal.

Wayne Simien could be a steal late 1st or early 2nd as well. he seems like a more athletic Boozer to me, but he has trouble staying healthy.

Sean Banks is a guy who people had star writen all over him now people are backing off because of his attitude. if the young man grows up he could be a tremendous talent picked late in the 2nd.

somewhere in my mind i think Sean May could be a 2nd rounder kinda like boozer. They see he is an undersize Center and they may over look him.. so he might last until the early 2nd round.. but i think its highly unlikely

IF A TEAM, AND I MEAN ANY TEAM PASSES UP MAY IT WILL BE A MISTAKE.

even teams like S.A and MINN with power forwards..

i don't think there is a snowballs chance in hell he goes in round 2

MAY IS A WINNER AND will be a DOUBLE & DOUBLE force for years to come..

he gets great postion and cleans the glass...

if we could get our hands on may ???? i would be thrilled

i wanted May to come here since he was a freshman in college... he is a hard nose player, but who knows what could happen

Jawad Williams is a guy id look at.

The thing with Paker and Ginobli is I believe both of them had contract issues or werent guaranteed to come over here and play right away, sorta like that Lithuanian PG, so thats why they fell so hard.....I believe, I could be wrong. I didnt look it up.

To the original idea of the thread as far as 2nd round or undrafted players, I'd pick out:
Travis Diener-PG
Alan Anderson-G-F
Dijon Thompson-F-G
Marcelos Huertas-PG
Steven Smith-SF
all could develop into solid bench players. Huertas is a Brazilian PG who could be worth a look if he goes undrafted.

A sleeper 1st round pick could be Andray Blatche a 6-11 athletic HS F. He's projected to go late 1st round now and I think has the potential to be a good PF in a few years. I've only seen highlights and some all star game action of him so it's mostly just a gut feeling.

I was hoping with AV, Cleveland could get a Brazilian connection going and track Huertas down. I'm shocked the team hasn't contacted the guy for a workout. Most draft sites really don't mention Huertas much at all and if that's the case, Cleveland should look at the guy while there's little competition and demand over him.

There's little demand for huertas because he's not that good apparently. From what i've read he's rather flashy, but has a low b-ball i.q. Might be a nice player to work out, but if he doesn't get drafted he'll prob. just go back to playing for his euro team, which has a contract waiting for him to sign.

Diener would be a great late 1st round or second round selection. He has really impressed in the predraft workouts as a true pure point guard. He's drawn a lot of comparisons to Ridnour in Seattle

I'd look at...

Francisco Garcia - Great defender and is extremely long and smooth
Sean May - HUGE, not tall, reminds me of Charles Barkley
Brandon Bass - Big guard who should be a solid NBA player
Jawad Williams - Come on, he is a home town boy!

A lot of people dont even know Jawad is local, but he is a solid player. He can play multiple positions, is a team player, and has a ton of talent that hasnt been reached yet.

The word is that Jawad Williams has been a dissappointment in predraft workouts and the Chicago camp. Probably would stay away from him: we need help in the backcourt and that's where I would concentract
