Would anybody trade Garland straight up for Jaylen Brown? Put Brown at SF, slide Mitchell to point and put LeVert at SG. Just asking!

No. Brown is no guarantee to stay and because of his current contact I don't think he can actually sign a max extension until he hits FA. Way too much risk involved. Also I don't think Mitchell at PG full time is the best idea. He can handle PG for short stints and some games but I wouldn't want him at PG over the course of a full season.

Whatever the numbers are...I know I did not watch good offense during the regular season. We were carried by DM most nights. A good defense with length can shut the Cavs down due to their lack of size/strength and spacing. Remove Allen to improve the spacing and down goes our defense. Do we have anyone outside of Evan who consistently contributes on both ends of the floor? No.

Defend the Cavs with numbers all you want. The roster is not that good and the coach is very bad. Hopefully Mobley is a top 5 player in a few years and I'm also praying that Garland also improves to the point where he's unstoppable offensively. I don't see how the Cavs have any chance at becoming legit contenders with this core unless both of those things happen. And they won't happen during the course of DM's current contract, in my opinion.

The regular season offensive stats were fools gold. The Knicks showed up the issues with our offense in the playoffs, and those problems were visible during the regular season even though we had the talent to handle them in the regular season context

The argument against Mitchell trade is solely based on the fictitious imaginary world where JBB runs some fluid offense that maximize everyone’s skills. It’s not based in reality.

Mitchell was a good defender last year. He ranked as one of the top SGs. Garland’s fine. That being said, I don’t think we’ll totally know until we find someone that can adequately defend SFs.

Trading for Mitchell just because JBB is a shitty offensive coach who only knows how to run a mid-2000s iso offense based on a high level one on one scorer is a flawed concept. Given what we traded, you’re basically committing the teams future for 5-10 years based on JBBs issues today

We’re a decent team but the notion that we could have ended up better in the long run by keeping more resources and shooting and waiting to see how Mobley developed is not fantasy based

Brown can sign an extension this summer but if Boston trades him before giving him an extension then he can't get the supermax. If he does get an extension then there is a 6 month waiting period before he can get traded.

I think he gets traded if Boston and him can't get a deal done on an extension. He doesn't need to get the full supermax, he can get a extension between the max and supermax like Gobert.

Can we stop having this Lauri/Donovan thing every 2 weeks. Lauri was awesome with Utah. He may have turned into that player here or maybe not. We can't know. We traded for Spida. Its done. Lets figure out how to build around the pieces we have and not the ones we used to

At the end of the day, I think the FO was adamant about not allowing the young players to fall into a pattern of losing or a losing environment. That’s way worse for their development. Maybe they don’t make the trade if they make the playoffs last year. Not really sure, but we’ve seen plenty of promising young cores never materialize into much of anything due to that reason.

Yeah I’ve been thinking about this trade too. It would have to come with a brown extension. We can’t win with 2 small guards. Brown has his flaws but he’s great in his own ways. Mitchell full time at the 1 isn’t ideal but we need a large wing. These 2 small guard lineups don’t win.

Mitchell will be traded before Garland. Overrated he is and frankly, I can see Garland closing the gap completely this season.

I think Garland, Brown, and Mobley would be a better group than Mitchell, Brown, and Mobley. I think if Brown wants out of Boston, he wants to go somewhere where he is the #1 option. I'm not sure he will be happy to go from Tatum's running mate to Mitchell's.

I also think the dynamic of Garland, Brown, and Mobley just fit better. Garland can set up Brown while Mobley will have room to grow on offense. Brown will have to figure out how to be a #1 player on a team. Also with the new CBA, we might be able to afford to keep all 3 of them for a while if Garland and Mobley stay at the 25% max instead of the 30% supermax.

Garland can’t carry a team the way Mitchell can. Don carried this team on his back this year. Something garland can’t do. We can’t let that go.

I don't think Garland would be asked to carry the team, Brown would be. Also I'm not sure Boston would trade Brown for Garland. I think they would be asking for more than just Garland for us to get Brown. I think Brown for Mitchell is a very close to a straight trade.

Maybe it's not all about individual stats.
Hmmmmmm........my argument would be Shai and Luka should not be rewarded as first team all NBA missing the playoffs. In my mind, not making the playoffs should be a disqualifier from 1st Team. All 1st teamers should be able to carry their team to the top half of the League.
