Feel bad for the guy… just freak basketball injuries keeps happening… you can already see he is not trusting his body and playing kinda paranoid out there… maybe time to go back to his 2nd sport… golf

Subtitle unfortunately very literally fitting right now after that likely concussion.

Anyone know if Windler is OK? He got undercut and landed on his face. The way things are going, cavs are going to need him to step up and play again soon, good chance for him to get some redemption.

I can't find any news. Even if his face bones are intact, he almost certainly has to be in concussion evaluation at this point.

Here's the evaluation process--

4. Acute Evaluation and Management:
a. Concussion Evaluation. If a player is suspected of having a concussion, or exhibits the signs or symptoms of concussion, he will be removed from participation by either a team physician or the player’s team athletic trainer and undergo evaluation in a quiet, distraction-free environment conducive to conducting a neurological evaluation.
b. Serial Evaluation. If a player undergoes a concussion evaluation and is not diagnosed with a concussion, the team’s medical staff will continue to monitor the player, and the player will undergo at least another concussion evaluation by the medical staff prior to the team’s next game or practice or approximately 24 hours after the initial concussion evaluation (whichever is first). If the player subsequently develops any signs or symptoms of concussion, the player will immediately be removed from participation and will undergo a concussion evaluation.
c. Prohibition from Participation. If a player is diagnosed with concussion, he will not return to participation: (1) on that same day or the next calendar day; and (2) before completing the required return-to-participation process.
Here's the return process if diagnosed with a concussion--
5- Return-to-Participation Decisions:
a. Timing of Return-to-Participation Exertion Process. A player diagnosed with a concussion should be regularly monitored for 24 hours for the evolution of symptoms, and accordingly the player may not begin the return-to-participation exertion process until 24 hours after the time of injury.
b. Return to Participation Requirements. A player who had a concussion may not return to participation until:
i. He is without concussion-related symptoms at rest;
ii. He has been evaluated by a physician;
iii. He has successfully completed the NBA return-to-participation exertion process; and
iv. A team physician has discussed the return-to-participation process and decision with the Director of the NBA Concussion Program. Note that the final return-to-participation decision is to be made by the player’s team physician, in order to maximize the consistency of care for the player.

He's not Mr. Ass, he's just a young player who played at a low level in college (Belmont) and who was injured as a rookie and also for much of his second season, which severely delayed his development. His NBA career consists of 51 games at 14 minutes per game.

Now that he's healthy the Cavs have gotten pretty good and he's stuck behind Marky and Cedi at the 3. He needs a combination of being healthy and getting consistent minutes to have a chance to carve out a career as a solid player off the bench. He probably won't get the minutes he needs with the Cavs.

There's a big difference in the level of play he faced in college and the NBA. That chase down block last night where he got hammered would have been an uncontested layup in the Ohio Valley Conference.

I don't see a future for him in Cleveland except as possibly a backup 2, but he has a long way to go in order to be productive at this level.

I could see Windler as a decent back up at 2 or 3, but given how much burn JBB is giving him I agree the future doesn't look promising with the Cavs attm. More immediate concern is how many teammates are going to enter NBA health and safety protocols in the next few days, and the need for all hands on deck.

This was his chance with all the dudes out. He immediately got hurt. Hate to blame the guy, but he hang on the rim and he went up slow. If he had just finished quickly he'd have been fine.

Thanasis did not give him room to land, but Dylan thought it was a gimme. I have to seriously ask whether he can play at NBA speed at this point

Don't see how you can read that much into this one play, he's grabbing the rim to break his fall, you see it all the time. Looks like he got fouled, amazing it wasn't called.

My logic is simple: I'm a Cavs fan, Windler is a Cav, so I'm still rooting for him to develop into a sharpshooter off the bench, something like we're finally seeing from Cedi this year.

No foul called there is wild

Technically if you think about it, Windler attempting to break his face in half last night may have saved the Cavs a potential loss tonight… Pretty sure it hinged on the fact that he couldn’t go either (not like he can go when he’s not falling flat on his face) and therefor the Cavs dipped below the minimal players required.
