This motherfucker is gettin all the white guy basketball player dog whistles. Not that I give a shit. Some of the stereotypes are true, or at least WERE true before Euros came into the league and mixed in with “white players” and before all players were using the exact same athletic regimen, trainers, data, etc as they are now.

It’s just funny to observe as a guy who has never watched him play and seeing all of the data come in proving his measurables and play style aren’t necessarily that of the standard early 90s-early 00’s white guy that people still want to make player comps for.

Like...you don’t HAVE to compare white guys to other white guys if their games are more comparable to black guys. Hell, even if its a light-skinned black guy ffs. Scouts do this too. Nobody says anything.

It’s weird.
He reminds me of Paul Pierce.

Don't put that evil on me. I compared him to Kevin Durant.

I was thinking the same thing reading this thread. Is it possible there's such a clear difference on how the colour of your skin influences how you play? Because someone reading this thread might think so.

Reminds me of those god awful Jalen Rose player comparisons when ESPN had him working the draft.

He literally compared players solely on appearance. It was laughable.

What's the most likely reason Windler would bust other than injury?

I think 19 year olds are more likely to be able to bulk up. Windler will be 23 when he starts to play for us, by that age you are close to your full weight.

Despite Windler's promising athletic testing, pretty sure his inside the arc game is gonna vanish in the pros. Sometimes athleticism doesn't translate to the game.

He certainly doesn't look it on tape but he's nearly 6'8 in shoes, I guess. He's listed at 195. Korver is listed at 215 (I think he's heavier now) so I'd like to see Windler get up around there. He's kind of stiff already without the weight so that will get worse over time.

Shooters will always have a place and he will have gravity because he's deadeye, is long enough, has a lot of spring on his shot. But he's gonna be a sieve on defense and won't be defending 2s if he puts on weight. Plenty of guys like that have bombed out of the pros because they aren't tough enough to bang with 3s and just wilt. Gotta give Korver credit, he's tough as nails despite being a complete liability on defense.

Or I could be completely wrong and he's gonna be styling on guys hitting step-back 3s. But I don't find that likely.

BigErie, if he was this unicorn 40" vert guy who can shoot the lights out, do things off the dribble, and effectively defend wings, he wouldn't have fallen to 26.

Didn't even know who he was before last night and it's not like I know/even believe he will be special. But I'm impressed by what I have learned today about him. I'm just an optimistic homer that hopes for the best and feel he has a good chance of being much better than a 26th pick...

watched him play twice live (both while checking out Ja), came away very impressed and thought he had NBA talent if his quickness translates. One of the games (I think it was during the OVC tourney) he really struggled from outside in the first half and then totally carried his team in the second, even serving as a primary ball handler, did most of his damage at the rim. Looking forward to seeing him in summer league.
