I still think he is worth persisting with if he ever gets his 3pt confidence up but damn Keldon Johnson was right there

Problem with Windler is he's a 24-year-old rookie and will turn 25 prior to the start of next season. There are some exceptions, but most guys by the time they hit that age in the NBA are what they are for the most part.

The team can decline his option as early as this offseason. If I'm the Cavs, I probably give him one more season while using one of those 2nds on a potential replacement.

Yup, supposedly to add to the frustration the change at the last minute not to pick Johnson was securing Porter later with the added pick.

I have no inside info, but reading the tea leaves I always thought that the last minute change was a nod to Beilein. Windler fit the style he wanted to play and I recall that in summer league last year Beilein would not shut up about him. I don’t know why you would let a 70 something head coach make a draft decision for you, but I believe they did.

I think this is a tradition for the Cavs. Bryon Scott definitely wanted Dion and couldn't stop talking about how much tape he watched on him. Mike Brown talked about how he saw Bennett in person at UNLV in the year he had off. It wouldn't surprise me if it came out that Okoro was JBB's ideal player.

He’ll be a CVS pharmacist before you know it...

He was. JB talked about it in the road back

He’ll do the sensible thing and join budget rent a car. They give him the tools he’ll need to succeed.

Windler can pass, rebound and defend. He just needs to get confident and consistent with his 3-point shot and figure out how to use his ambidextrousness to finish at the rim. He needs to release the 3-pointer quicker and with more rhythm as opposed to taking his time and using a slow release, like he's aiming the ball. You don't have time to line up the shot and take your time getting it off in this league.

He's in a numbers crunch because the Cavs will surely draft a wing this year, or take a power forward and move Nance to the 3. Windler will be competing next year with Okoro, Prince, and Nance or another high pick at the 3.

If I were the Cavs I would tell him that starting next year he's a 2 and he needs to spend the off-season working on ball-handling and 3-point shooting, especially the catch-and-shoot with rhythm and also off the dribble coming around screens. He's got the height to get the 3 off without it getting blocked.

As a low first round pick he's not making that much money so there's no pressure to move him. He has a couple more years to refine his game. If I were him I'd be watching a lot of Chris Mullin tape.
