One bad road trip and you’re singing “Hit the Road, Jack.”
Who is going to pick up the scoring loss? Dean Wade? Collin didn’t have a great road trip but he did score at least 22 in every game except the Nuggets debacle.
Oh I forgot - we can get rid of Sexton and acquire Wiggins, who can score 20 ppg at horrible efficiency. That’ll do it.
Frankly selling Sexton just to get “anything of value” out of this trade deadline makes no sense to me. Why is this trade deadline so important to our team? Is there some big asset available?
Wow, the list of assumptions you are making from my post is pretty staggering. I'm not saying trade Sexton for Wiggins. I'm not saying Sexton for "anything of value." That's all some type of boogeyman you are projecting, my friend.
What I've suggested is that the Cavaliers want to shake up the roster significantly after the Pacific division kicked their teeth in. During that time, all the concerns about Collin Sexton's offensive and defensive shortcomings were in plain sight, and hurt the team as much as helped.
Because Sexton has improved this season, this might be the time to use him as a valuable trade chip.
The team has two options: build around his shortcomings or trade him to an established team where he can fill his destiny as rookie contract Jordan Clarkson. He's not a point guard, and he only defends point guards. When his back is against the wall, he stops pretending he can overcome those problems and goes right back to fulfilling his destiny.
The other option is building around his limitations... and at this point I wonder why. Okoro is already a shooting guard, that's his destiny.
