There’s a couple interesting prospects in the proposal but I wouldn’t call it an overpay. If I were Cherrington I’d turn it down. I wouldn’t put much stock in the rankings of the prospects within any clubs system.
That would be a haul for the Pirates, but how much value can you put in two teenagers who are at least three years away?I dont see how this clears any roster spots for the Fish. Only one needs added in 2022. Two are 18 yr olds.
Anyone else find this message a little cryptic?
I'm reading that as the Tribe being very unsure if Tito will be back. Kind of two layers of doubt built into that language.
HUGE value.. teenagers or not..these guys aren't being picked from the long line at the BMV... they're bona fide blue chippers..That would be a haul for the Pirates, but how much value can you put in two teenagers who are at least three years away?
Does Pittsburgh really want to push their rebuild that far back? Is it sellable to whats left of the fan base? Pittsburgh would be accepting a lot of risk, even in the risky business of baseball prospects. To trade Reynolds, they have to come up with something to show the fans.
I dont think there is any way to comp that offer to what we have.
Maybe Espino, Angel Martinez, Carson Tucker, and Hankins?
I dunno.
Give them their choice between Chang, Miller, and Johnson. That's of little consequence to Cleveland. Plesac's value is equal to Stassi and Adell at this time, so I see no reason to include Kwan if Tito and Co. would like to see what he can do.I think the Indians would want another prospect and if I was the Angels I'd rather have a Miller or Chang than Jet for 22 since most of the MIF prospects are farther away than the OF prospects. Though the Angels also need to get rid of some cap and contracts since their starting OF is old (Fowler and Upton)... That being stated that way, getting Jet and Kwan makes some sense if ya lose Adell, but they don't have a SS honestly either for 22....
I never thought the Angels was a good match, I dont like Stassi over Perez even if the price of Stassi is financially lower, plus with the age of Upton, Lagares and Fowler, I am thinking they don't want to move Adell or Marsh since on paper they should mix well with a healthy Trout... Plus none of their top prospects currently (outside of Detmers) are even close to the pros... I know they want a SP, but trading away an asset that's MLB ready when you don't have a proper replacement doesn't make sense to me. I think they will target an MLB SP, but it wouldn't be for Adell...
There is a huge difference between 18 yr old blue chip baseball players and 18 yr old blue chip football players.HUGE value.. teenagers or not..these guys aren't being picked from the long line at the BMV... they're bona fide blue chippers..
there's a difference between sports.. thanks for that info.. smh..There is a huge difference between 18 yr old blue chip baseball players and 18 yr old blue chip football players.
Besides, blue chip baseball prospects are in the 60-65-70 category.
The question IMO is not how good these kids MIGHT be four or five years from now. Its how good IS Reynolds right now and how good will he be over the next four years....and what does his acquisition mean for my team in that time span.
Lastly, remember that we traded blue chippers a lot closer to MLB for Miller and Hand. And we also traded for blue chippers in Marte, Knapp, LaPorta, and Escobar. Also, we had a real blue chipper in Adam Miller.
Those blue chippers all were shiny baubles that hid cow dung.
If I'm the GM of the Marlins, and I think that Reynolds can put me at the top of the heap in the NL Central for four years, I'm thinking really hard on that kind of trade.

Not liking Stassi over Perez is your choice, but you have no factual grounding to stand on. Add in the fact that Perez will cost twice as much under his current agreement, can't stay on the field, and absolutely sucks offensively then the facts continue to stack up against your preference. Stassi is already decent defensively, especially in the pitch framing department, but I'd like to see him under Sandy's tutelage. My guess is he becomes even better behind the dish.
The Angels have Upton, Marsh, Trout, Fowler, Lagares, Ward, and a guy named Ohtani along with 3 of their top 10 prospects being OFers. They have plenty of OFers.
I don't know if the Angels FO is willing to deal Adell or Stassi, but they would be upgrades for this team based on their performances, and Plesac would be an excellent get for them. They would improve their rotation without investing hoards of cash allowing them to add more pitching or whatever they deemed necessary. Yeah, it's absolutely a match, but that doesn't mean it will or should happen.
Truth be told.. a $ 7 MM Bebo.. or a $ 3-4 MM Stassi isn't desired by any club including the ones they currently play for.. It's all about what is additional to these guys.. like Adell..
The question is.. Is Adell plus Stassi (& Hedges..) better than keeping Plesac & Miller/others? This, knowing full well that serious flaws existed for the Indians in 2021 with corner OF'er(s) and offense provided by catchers. Is there a better use of Plesac as a tradeable resource?..
hmmm...Most of the teams that want Plesac are honestly going to be contenders so most won't want to give up much MLB talent... so getting a blocked young MLB talent is really the most likely get with prospects added for Plesac...
Hence why I did two trades and likely it would have to be a three way trade/two separate moves to get the talent a lot of us are wanting...
Adell plus Stassi minus Perez And Plesac I don't think is going to move the needle enough to even merit making the move... Angels aren't going to give up any other MLB talent as well in the deal.
