I have a hard time with player comparisons for Evan, I just don't like any of them and I don't think there are any that fit well enough to bother making.

Mobley is a blank canvas at this point, almost unmolded clay, but with unbelievable natural gifts and already equipped with some well embedded fundamental skill sets. I think he's going to end up being unique, something different than we've seen. I don't think anyone can say what that's going to even look like at this point. People projecting him to be some kind of a center, another version of Draymond or Bosh or Giannis. I think he'll end up being something that doesn't exist yet and I can't wait to see what that ends up being. There's no way I want to project or pigeonhole what he's going to be.

I think part of Mobleys' fumbles with the ball and dribbling
happens when teams go at him with multiple defenders
in a physically aggressive style. Just the kind of stuff that
refs swallow the whistle at in the playoffs.

Mobley is still adjusting to the NBA level of physicality. He has
already improved dealing with it when he is near the basket. Away
from there is more of an issue and is complicated by some loose
dribbling.

Give him an off season to add muscle and more go to moves
and guys like George Hill and Portis will get nowhere with
their weak ass tugs and pushes.

I dont see elite passing for big man, when I say elite, I am talking Giannis, Lebron, Jokic and Draymond, but he has the ability to be the next level down. (and I know Lebron is a sf, but what do you call 6'9 265lbs if not a big man, lol)

And before someone says I said he wont be as good as Draymond, I only mean passing, Mobley is better in almost every other aspect of the game and Draymond is also an elite defender.

Mobley will be special, but how special we will have to wait and see.
I think the only thing stopping him from being an elite passer is his dribbling. It's still abit clumsy. Once he gets that, he will be dishing. Similar to how getting to the free throw line at a consistent rate is what's stopping DG from being that 25 ppg guy right now. They will both get there imo.

I am not sure DG becomes a 25 point scorer, what he is showing me is 22 and 9 or 10 assists with efficient scoring numbers. And that is really fucking good, all star every year good.

I agree that Mobley isnt a good dribbler yet. For 7 foot he is, but I dont know if he ever gets there, I dont see Mobley as a Giannis. He becomes more Bosh on offense and just Mobley on defense, he will be in a league of his own defensively. Sure imo Hakeem is the best defensive big man ever and will remain there after Mobley's career, but Hakeem couldnt guard the perimiter at the level Mobley can, its insane. But Mobley will never reach the level of rim protector of Hakeem...but its ok, Hakeem is the best there ever was, yes you can argue Russell and 1 or 2 others, but I am not sure i have ever seen the combo of rim and perimeter defender of Mobley.

One thing for sure I know Mobley is, fun to root for and fun to watch play.

I'm not comparing Mobley to this guy, but....

Mobley gives me a glimpse of how a guy like Bill Russell - as his game has been described -- could have had such a monstrous impact upon his team even without having earth- shaking offensive statistics. I never quite understood it before, but imagining the fully-ascended version of Mobley makes it a lot more clear.

Bill Russell is the best comparison I've heard yet, at least in terms of body shape and basketball IQ. I don't see him having the quick twitch explosiveness of Ante'po or the strength of Olajuwon, but defensively I certainly see Bill Russell in him the way he blocks and alters shots (not that I ever saw Russell play live). Mobley also has the same type of team-first mentality that Russell had.

Offensively, Mobley has already shown glimpses that he can become a much better player than Russell. Russell wouldn't have shot 3-pointers, even if they had them, and he didn't bring the ball up court.

Russell was just a winner, and he had the perfect cast around him to make it a dynasty. It is harder to keep teams like that together in today's NBA world. But I will settle for three championships-- I don't need 11. Bring them to us, Evan!

Interestingly that is what Kendrick Perkins said after he was selected by the Cavs on draft night… Other people on the panel have facial reactions like Perkins was trolling after he said it…

Here's a short video of Russell in his prime. In 5 minutes of highlights, I counted 8 blocks by Russell. He'd be a superstar today.

Lol

Mobley is so humble, genuine and quiet. I love it... what a breath of fresh air.

His voice tells me he has a small growth spurt ahead of him. At least muscle wise.
