Please stop. Only dumb teams bring all stars off the bench.Really intrigued with Mobley playing C.
Shooting should be better in this lineup with someone other than Lamar to really open up things. And Mobley as a C must be able to screen better. However, the spacing is still much better and his screening has improved. But for us to really take the next step with this group we will have to put another shooter in there to open up more driving lanes.
Would bringing Allen as a super sub off the bench like he was on the Nets be such a bad idea? He struggles with his stamina and all of a sudden looks somewhat injury prone. To add to that pairing him with Mobley really shrinks our floor. If Mobley proves to be able to play the C position on both ends, what are the pros of playing them both together?
Just a hypothesis...
Having him as a early super sub can really destroy teams. Both Allen and Mobley should have more shot attempts. Pairing Allen with LeVert/Rubio, Garland with some shooters may be able to provide some insane results.
Great comeback, thanks. Next thing we know, you're gonna opine that a player with no ball handling or passing skills who was released last year by a 24 win team should be the starting SF on a 55 win team.Deleted
If he adds some more strength, tightens his handles and improves his freethrows, his ceiling is Giannis level.
Giannis/Lopez
Siakam/Barnes
Embiid/Harris
Banchero/Wagner/Bol
This guy can play a little center can't he?
Next up after NY, LeBron/AD.
Please take your time returning JA.
Yeah and you can take Allen out early if you want to split them up. They are still awesome together despite the numbers. My fear is that Mobley isnt strong enough yet to play center full time. The Embiid's and Jokers of the NBA will wear him down. He is a mismatch on offense for many NBA centers though.
I think he gets there, and eventually the Cavs do at center what they currently do at PG, when Allen is out, Mobley is in at center. But if Mobley can consistently hit the 3 point shot like the last 4 games, then he is a huge problem on even offense. His form and effort are too good for it not to happen eventually, then if he gets Keven Gaarnette level strength in a few years, wow the kid is going to be good.
Agreed.Mobley really impressed me last night when he knocked down that 3-pointer in the 4th quarter to stop the Magic's momentum. This is something he's been working on in practice but it hasn't translated to the game yet.
The Cavs had a comfortable 17-point lead with six minutes to go but the Magic went on a 9-0 run to cut the lead to 8 points with over three minutes left. The Magic doubled Garland on the perimeter, forcing him to give up the ball. Mobley took his time, lined up the shot, and knocked it down, giving the Cavs an 11-point lead. When they needed a bucket, he got one.
The other play was when the Magic scored with six seconds left in the first half. Mobley took the inbound pass and dribbled the length of the floor, avoiding Franz Wagner at mid-court and finished by euro-stepping past Banchero in the paint for a two-handed dunk with one second left. That was a Kevin Durant play.
He still tends to lose the ball on the dribble, especially when he spins in traffic, but you can see big things coming.
NBA is a contact sport. It kills me when people who watch the game from their easy chair accuse NBA players of being injury prone after getting undercut and landing with full force on the floor. As though their bodies should somehow defy laws of physics and physiology.Really intrigued with Mobley playing C.

The same "injury prone" shit is said about Wade, and some even look sideways at Garland as though getting whacked about the head is his fault.
And, some people are always looking for any reason to get rid of JA, or reduce his role on the team because their utopian view of an NBA team means every player has to be able to knock down threes.
Rosters and roles do change and evolve over time. I enjoy the current one and I love having both JA and Mobley on the floor together when possible and practical. As long as he's been here people have been selling JA short and looking for ways to replace him with a stretch five. It gets old.
Yeah I agree, and to be honest, I don't want him playing center full time until he's at least JA's weight and JA's athleticism drops off a cliff. Centers take too much of a beating and are expected to do so much. I remember Draymond talking about how they moved him to small ball center in the post-season because he couldn't physically handle the wear and tear of it during the regular season. He said he needed most of the offseason to recover playing small ball center. My fear is that Mobley isnt strong enough yet to play center full time.
