Not diminishing Mobley's performance at all.. but man did Embiid look bad. He's out a couple weeks and goes from being in perpetual so-so shape to utterly out of shape. Dude was winded after tipoff.

Yeah I never saw him look like that. Wasn't even attempting his pet shots

It's difficult to tell because Mobley is so lanky, but he definitely put on weight in the off season:

Okoro and Chubb need to teach him how to squat, damn.

I know his thighs will never be as girthy as Okoro's just because he's long, but some core strength would go a long way, not just defending the post or rebounding, but also help his back to the basket dribbling/turnovers.

Couple of good games, hope he keeps them going.

The coast to coast play was dazzling, the late 3 that iced the game was silky and cold blooded… but once again he was most remarkable on the defensive end. He alters so many plays… it’s amazing that without even contesting a shot he just makes plays fall apart once they get to the paint by rotating over and menacing people.

This quote via Fedor blew my mind:

“He’s got a chance. I like him a lot. I think he has a lot of potential,” Embiid said of Mobley. “I think he can become one of these great big men in the league that have so much skill. You talk about, who are the best? (Nikola) Jokic. Karl Towns. I think he can be that good. He just needs to have more opportunities. That’s what I see in them. It’s all about opportunity. If he gets a chance to keep making mistakes and learning from it and keep getting better, I think he can get to that level. But he’s already really good.

Embiid is a classy guy

If he adds some more strength, tightens his handles and improves his freethrows, his ceiling is Giannis level.

Note the part about opportunity to make mistakes and grow from them. That is a multi year process. Especially from bigs who in American AAU/HS/college ball get criminally underdeveloped due to ball dominance of guards.

Point being, Embiid is not saying Mobley can be Jokic/KAT level right today if given the opportunity(shots/usage); he’s saying it can(and it will) happen over the course of a few years if he’s given the opportunity and patience to grow into his skills and body(which this org will give him) w out having to be the primary scorer/leader as a second year player because of guys like Mitchell and Garland.

It’s really a beautiful situation for him to be in and it makes some of the impatient quick to judge takes from earlier this season from the fans all the more bizarre
